Identify a razor?

Hi,

I came across a straight yesterday that had the US "screaming eagle" on the blade with the words "Pluribus Unum" or "Unum Unum" written on it in the scrolls within the eagles talons. Scales appeared to be plain black.

Anybody know anything about it? Sorry, I couldn't make out the maker, didn't have my glasses with me.................

Thanks.

I can't help you with a maker but E pluribus unum is on the US seal. It's latin for something like out of many came one.

JR Torrey (Mass) made such a razor. I can't say for sure without a pix however. I think I have a picture of the one I owned somewhere...if so I will post and you can see if it looks like what you saw.

American razors were common for about five decades. They'd have Eagles, flags, American slogans, etc. Most were made in Sheffield for the American market.
