What's new

I made a video of me shaving....

.....in 1991! I was 18 at the time and had been shaving for just under 2 years. Stumbled upon the tape the other day and recoiled at the horror of seeing Mr. Pasty string bean without his shirt off trying to shave.....and no I'm not posting it!

Six months prior a friend dared me to grow sideburns and I did. Well, got tired of "looking weird" so I decided to tape me in the mirror shaving them off.

Until now I had forgotten how bad of a wet shaver I was. Wet my face a bit with warm water then proceeded to spread some Edge Gel goop all over my face....pretty bad lathering job indeed. Then I grabbed my Gillette Sensor and proceeded to start my shave with an ATG pass....all the while slicing up my face!

Starting with an ATG? What was I thinking!?!

Wiped my face down with a towl then proceeded to place tiny pieces of toilet paper to stop the bleeding in 4 places!

Thus was my shaving method until the late 90's when I discovered using a brush and cream.

As a interesting post script, shortly after shaving them off I missed having sideburns so I grew them back....have kept 'em for 21 years at varying lengths.

you had no right sir !, no right at all to build a set up such as that only to follow it with "and no I'm not posting it" think of the children you could have helped, all the starving kids in africa who need a laugh in their day

c'mon you got to post it after writing that up

and for the record, with carts i always shaved ATG only one buffing pass and came out okay

Yeah, I've had my beard for about 4 years, last month I decided to finally try shaving my whole face. In my enthusiasm I probably did between 4 and 7 passes on varying parts of my face and got some WICKED razorburn, but a great close shave otherwise. I got some pictures (consider this as not having happened as pictures will NOT be forthcoming) and went back to just shaving my neck & cheekbones. I did have sideburns for many years starting when I was in AZ. I also was shaving my head. When I got back east I started growing my hair again as well as the burns. I ended up letting the mustache grow in as well and for a few years I had a badass set of Mutton Chops that after a while made it down to my collarbone if I brushed them out. People HATED them (my female friends especially, but hey, I wasn't getting anything from them so who cares?) but I LOVED them. Many a time I'd have people in clubs turn to see me come up next to them at the bar, look up to see my face and take off! The fact that with a short beard and that longer hair I look like the spitting image of Gary Heidnik probably didn't help either. *LOL* Man I miss those chops, I am often tempted to grow them back, but the beard suits me better these days, I even have a pretty good pic on my DL.
