How to face lather?

I HAVE ALWAYS BOWL LATHERED. CAN SOMEONE GIVE ME THE PROPER WAY OF FACE LATHERING USING SOAPS (MINE ARE HONEYBEE SOAPS THAT ARE IN A 1 CUP PYREX CONTAINER).I ALSO USE PRORASO CREAM IN THE BOWL SO HOW
DO I GO ABOUT FACE LATHER USING THE CREAM.IN OTHER WORDS , FACE LATHERING USING BOTH SOAPS AND CREAMS.:confused1

wet brush, swirl on soap, swirl on face, shave. If the lather is to dry - ad more Water, if the lather is too wet ad more soap. Simple as that. Everything else is an attempt to complicate a simple thing:thumbup1:

1. Wet face
2. Rub soap stick all over your face like a crayon on the wall
3. Wet your brush and rub your face with it
4. lather will appear as if by magic
5. Enjoy the shave

Some soaps work better than others. I am not familiar with Honeybee, but the Proraso should work just fine.

Step 1: Turn off caps :biggrin1:

You can go about face lathering the creams in any way you please. There is no proper way. You can squeeze some cream in the center of your brush then start lathering, or you can rub some cream on your whiskers and then start to face lather. Or whatever way you think of that you like!

The only thing to worry about it is getting the moisture level right, as a rule of thumb just remember that it's easier to add water than it is to remove it.

1. Prepare and load your brush as you would if you were going to bowl lather, make sure you load it well (its better to have too much lather than not enough)
2. Wet your face slightly (you don't want it dripping wet)
3. Spread the soap evenly across your face then start swirling for a few minutes until a nice lather has built up and been worked into your whiskers.

dip the tip of the brush in water if the lather is too dry, swirl on the puck some more if the lather contains too much water

Guess I did not explain correctly, I have soap pucks, NOT sticks.

Thanks DMT, it worked like a charm.

I believe Unicorn answered your question about soap pucks. The other responses gave you instructions for face lathering with sticks, creams--so you've got everything covered.

I've just converted from using a bowl to lather my soap to face lather. I'm impressed with the lather build up going direct to face - I thought it would be hard to lather up, but it's actually easier and the lather is much richer than my attempts to build lather in a bowl. Plus it's quicker - bonus!

Personally, if its a new technique to you, I would opt for a quick, easy lathering soap. I used arko and a large boar brush, my method is using a marvy shave mug, got arko squished down in there, probably 2 sticks worth at the moment. I fill the mug up with hot water, allow the brush to sit in there while I brush, and floss, etc etc.......Dump water out, shake the brush a few times, and begin swirling the puck. This is the trick for me anyways, I swirl until I start to see a bubbly lather forming in the mug, maybe 10ish seconds max with arko, thats enough for 3-4 passes easily, just start swirling on your face, instead of your mug/bowl. Arko whips up soo much lather, so easily, its fool proof. just my .02 cents
