How many creams is too many...

...on rotation?

I currently have 3 but I really, really want to try some other stuff, but I obviously dont want none of the creams to go bad in the future. I've read a couple of threads with mixed information about the real longevity of creams despite what the label says.

If it helps, this is what I currently own:

Omega 46001
TOBS Avocado
Razorock Cacao

And these are the other creams I want...

Cella
Pre de provence
T&H 1805 or trafalgar (waiting on sample packs to decide.)

Thanks ahead of time for any information. I really want some solid info, i.e. firsthand experience from an old timer would be great.

Warning: AD enabling ahead :001_cool:

Buy them all (if it is monetarily feasible), experiment and see what you like. Anything you like and think you can use in a reasonable amount of time, keep. Everything else you can PIF or sell on the BST.

Permanent in the rotation:
Pens BB, Floris (out right now waiting for restock), T&H Grafton, Trafalgar and Trumpers Violet. Plus I use T&H Lavender and 1805.

I rotate 7-8 creams.

When Lavender and 1805 is gone Im going to do T&H Sandlewood and Trumpers Coconut.

Maybe. Or lime and Endymion. or AK

I usually have about 6 in rotation, sometimes 1 more or less.

But now I think about it, maybe I do need more :sneaky2:

I have at least eight or nine in my current rotation and enjoy using them all. So I won't say I have too many because anything I can do to help shaving to be less boring is well worthwhile. !

I try to limit it to 3 creams at a time just to keep myself in check and not clutter up my bathroom. My current rotation is:

Nancy Boy Signature (running out)
Castle Forbes Lime
Art of Shaving Sandalwood

I currently have a steady rotation of 61 shaving creams in my den (no testers) - but I will be adding more soon, as I have 14 creams on order from Portugal (Brut, all the new MR's, TopSecret, Veleiro, La Toya, O Melhor, Floris 89 and some more I forgot now)

I'm not asking how many creams people have on rotation, I'm asking how many creams can you have on rotation without any of it going bad in the future, I know I, or anyone for that matter, can have 167 creams at one point if finances allowed for that and one's crazy enough but I'm pretty sane and just want to try some different stuff without going overboard and throwing my money away, nonetheless, thanks for all the replies and if any old timers have any solid insight, please share, again, thanks ahead of time.

I have creams in 60g tubes and creams in 450ml tubs. So, try to be more specific when referring to "creams".
According to my limited experience, you may use (depending on cream, technique and area) an average of 2g/shave. 150g of good quality cream should last you at least two months of daily two/three pass shaves.
The average expiration period for a cream (obviously after opening) is 12mths. So, if you stick with what manufacturers say, you could go through six 150g tubes/tubs in a year. Thus making the ideal cream rotation stock of six creams.
It also depends of your storage area. If kept in dark and cool environment shaving creams could last more than a year after opening. Dark, in my case is inside a cabinet (not on the window sill beaten by sun 5hrs /day). Cool means below 25Celsius ( I will let you find out the conversion to Fahrenheit). If conditions are right and want to have more than six creams in your rotation, I would be comfortable to have ten 150g tubes/tubs of shaving cream. I would expect tubes to last longer since there is less exposure to the environment during each use.
This is all I can tell you about my experience with creams and I am sure other members can correct me if I am wrong and add valuable information.
I am not an "old timer", so my "insight" might not be as solid as you would like.
There could be people on this forum with 167 or more creams in their den, so tread carefully.

You are throwing money away only if you don't enjoy
