What's new

How do you hear lather?

I use a Murker stainless steel adjustable razor and am new to using proraso green.
I have a very heavy ceramic mug I use that I put water in and heat up in the microwave for 2 minutes.
Then I soak my brush, then empty the water out and make the lather in the mug.

My question is, how can I keep the lather warmer, longer? And what tools do I need make for a nice shave? Do I need to get a thinner mug and use some type of heated element?

What would you all suggest?

I have the following creams:

Proraso Green

AOS Lemon

I have her brush scuttle which works fine. Unfortunately, I only use it for soaking the brush during the summers. I may get back into the warm lather again when winter comes around. One watchout: a lot of lathers will break down if you keep them too warm.

If you don't want a scuttle, you can pull the stopper in your sink and fill with some hot water and set your lather bowl in the sink while you shave. Just watch the water level!

I just let my mug float in my sink of hot water. If your mug won't float just fill the sink with water around the mug, but don't let it overflow the mug. Works great for me.
