Hot towel everyday?

I was wondering how many of you guys use a hot towel everyday with your shave.For me, I feel its the most important part of my prep and if I am ever to skip it my shave is sub-standard.I think it was the main thing that actually enabled me to shave everyday.Anyone feel the same?

Hi Steve: I really think everyone has to find what works best for them. If that's what works for you, who's to say its right or wrong. Congrats. on finding something that makes your shave the best. Stay with it, and all the best.

I have always used the hot towel. The rare exception is when I shower before I shave and move directly to a shave. I use a hot towel and shave before I shower because my bathroom mirror fogs up like crazy AND I wear glasses, which also fog like the dickens when I try to put them on in a steamy bathroom.

Every day for me too. I have to figure out a way to do it while reclining without making a watery mess. My back yells at me for most of the 3 minutes I'm leaning over the sink with the wet towel on my face.

every shave for me too, im sure my shave would be fine without it, i just think it adds alot enjoyment wise.

Never for me. Instead, I always shave right after a hot shower.

On the other hand, I do not have what you would call a "tough" beard, so the shower is enough.

I use the hot towel every day. It really works to soften up my beard.

Nope.. I almost never use a hot towel. I always shave after a shower and find that the hot water/steam suffices. I do use them occasionally. Mainly when I do a "barber shop" type shave in the afternoons or whenever I want a pick-me-up shave without jumping in the shower first.

YUP, Hot towel every shave,every day. As far as I see it there is no down side. I heat my scuttle water 2x and my towel gets the excess hot water that the scuttle can't drink. FEELS SOOOOOO GOOD.

I always shower before I shave, so I usually just use a hot face cloth for a minute or so to take the chill off my face from making my lather.

I'm a shower before I shave kinda guy. So I don't feel the need for a towel.

Hot shower and hot towel. Another tip you might like is if you use a preshave oil like TOBS, place the bottle in the sink with your hot water. It gives a nice warming feel and the warm lather makes it 10 times better.

I don't use a towel. Hot water is good enough for me. I do enjoy the hot towel when I get a barbershop shave, though.

I used a hot towel for just about every shave for about 2 years now. For me its not just about getting a better shave, the warmth is very relaxing and I think it sets me up for a good smooth shave.

I also use the towel after the shave expect I use the coldest water I can run. I find this really nice after a menthol aftershave.

The only time I don't do Kyle's Prep (not just a hot towel) is when I'm running late and have to shave in the shower (like today ). It's just a better shave - for me.

I never use hot towel, i shave after my shower and before lathering i splash my face whit hot water for 30 seconds.

At first I was doing hot towels each time, but then it got a little colder and I took hotter and longer showers, and I found that that was actually better preparation than hot towels. I'll probably try towels again some time to compare further.
