Hey all! Just thought I'd throw this out there. Interesting article on the amount of lead in some hot sauces. I personally own three of the five, but won't in about five minutes!

Unless you drink several bottles of the stuff per week I wouldn't worry too much

Yeah, but I don't think I'll be taking my chances. Although it would be a good excuse for forgetting things!

The maximum ppm for lead in water over there is 0.015 - compare the amount of water you drink to the amount of hot sauce you consume and your lead levels from water exceed by far the amount you'll consume through hot sauce. Unless you're one SERIOUS chilli head man, now I want hot sauce.. One that's on that list too! Hah!

Going back to the original question, for flavor I would recommend Cholula, but if you want more heat, go with El Yucateco Green Habanero.

This is my go-to sauce. I grew up with the stuff and love it. Not too spicy, full of flavor.


I also like Dave's Insanity, and the Hurtin Habanero variety of Dave's is quite good and much milder.
