Home needed for DE89L

Just received my second DE yesterday. Edwin Jagger DE89L. It gave me my best shave in over 40 years. This called for a place of honor on the counter. I have seen a few holders here and on the net so I went to my workshop and made this from 3/8" Lexan scraps I had. Also have seen others say it is better to dry you brush upside down but it not necessary to do so.
After about 1 1/2 hours to figure how it should look, where to put the holes, how big and fabricating this is what I came up with.
What should I have done or could add. Suggestions more the welcome for a newbie. Oh yea. My wife hasn't seen it on the bathroom sink yet. Could be short lived.
Hope this is the right place to post this.

Nice work, Orca - could I say, a "whale" of good idea? I've done things like this in wood, but plastic is a great idea - keep up the good work!

I love it. I can't really think of a way to improve it aside from maybe joining the two pieces with a mortise and tenon joint and some clear epoxy for a seamless appearance. It looks like maybe you've used screws to join the pieces on this one?

Either way, I'm impressed. I couldn't have made it.

The title of your thread had me slightly depressed - my first thought was that you didn't like the DE89L.

Then I saw that you had a great shave and built a beautiful stand! It looks great and I doubt your wife will complain!

Looks great :thumbup1: If you want suggestions, maybe make the base slightly larger....might make it look more "balanced". You could attach a second, larger piece to the existing base, for a stepped, heavier look. If glue alone is strong enough, you could lose the screws. None of this is criticism......nice work!

I am looking for others point of view. The bottom is larger then the top but the camera angle doesn't show it. I could glue the lexan as I do have lexan cement which dries clear. I have used screws so that I could take it apart to make changes that other members might suggest. If I glued it that would be it. Maybe another bigger piece to the bottom like a tier effect might look better. Thanks. I was thinking about adding stainless rods between the base and the top instead of lexan. :confused1
Thanks for the compliments and ideas.
Now what happens when I get a adjustable????
My wife still hasn't noticed it. LOL

HA! You must not be married!

Great looking work. Slap a feather in that DE89L if you haven't yet. My favorite combination thus far.
My razor of choice from the start. Need to try some others. Maybe one of those assortments packs I see on line. I really should have started this earlier in life as so much to try. Soaps, creams, razors and blades A/S Pre shave conditioner, brushes. I'm hooked. As a newbie I thought I saw a location for all the abbreviations used in the forum. If anyone know where I can locate it would you please let me know. Retirement is more work then going to work.
Thanks all.

Me too. I also believed you didn't like it for some reason.
But they are really good razors!

And nice stand BTW.

I was hoping you wanted to sell yer DE89. My wife wishes I had a stand for my razors, instead of just a medicine cabinet, and 2 shaving kit bags full of them.:w00t:
But, she got over it.
