What's new

Help with an SOC boar please

It's not happy.
When I first bought this already broken in off BST a year ago, it was a lather champ. The only soap I had difficulty with was Mystic Waters, and at one point I even conquered that.
I've let it fall out of rotation because I like my B&B boar better, I like my badgers and horses better and it just stopped working.

Last night I gave it a shampoo and a long tepid water soak. I worked up a good QCS face lather, but when I went back for a second pass there was nothing there. Repeat build lather on face, nothing there again for third pass. After building a third time, I squeezed out a watery lather for some touch ups.

Looking for ideas on how to rehabilitate. I love the size of the brush and the handle is perfect, but if I can't lather with it.....

I never saw that before, and am now sitting here wondering if I need to pick up vinegar on the way home.
thanks!

Yeah, I just found the apple cider vinegar on my lunch break. My SOC will get this treatment when I get home today. It really gives your brushes new life.

As I read your initial post I could not relate. It's probably because I've done the apple cider vinegar thing to my brushes regularly.

I've had 2 x SOC boars before the one I have now and the first two behaved just like yours. When new, and when broken in.. This new one only did for the first two uses.

Washed, bathed, and vinegared.

Definitely helped. Maybe needs a little more but much better now.
Before washing, the strands clumped as soon as wet, now remains bushy-ish.

After face lathering up Arko last night, got 2 passes, then a watery squeeze. Same with Lea today. Will try loading up heavily with some MW tonight...
