Help a newbie choose

................my first shaving cream.

I have been using brush and soap for several decades but I have never tried a cream. Would you suggest an inexpensive cream that is easy to use. I like Bay Rum, or Almond scents. I will be putting in an order with West Coast Shaving tomorrow and need a bit more to get the "free" shipping.

I could recommend a number of different creams, but since I don't like bay rum or almond and have not tried any of those varieties I will let others chime in. D.R. Harris, TOBS, GFT, and I believe T&H all have almond scents I'm pretty sure. Any of those should be wonderful performers. I don't know how their scents stack up against each other though.

The only true shave cream I have is TOBs avocado (smells like cucumbers). Solid cream that I use in the summer. IIRC, it has good reviews on WCS's site.

I have some TOBS Almond that I really enjoy. It's kinda taken a backseat to Nancy Boy Signature as of late though...

Tried the GFT Almond as part of a sampler--didn't like it as much as the TOBS.

Cella! Seriously.

No it isn't exactly a cream or a soap. We kindly refer to it here as a croap which is a cross between a cream and a soap. Queen Charlotte Soaps' shaving creams are the same type. Cella is a top performer and you won't be disappointed.

Now if you are looking for a traditional shaving cream, I recommend TOBS Avocado like my colleague TriSlim above. I have also found that the Crabtree and Evelyn creams are outstanding.

Good luck in your purchase and let us know what you decided on! Then you can fill us in on your opinion of it!

On WCS AK1869 in the tub would be a fine choice - but it's out of stock. You could get Castle Forbes Lavender travel size for $16 - a wonderful choice. GFT almond is pretty good stuff. TOBS almond is cheap. They have lots of other creams - most of which I have not tried.

I suggest you try a tube of a Trumper's cream.
You may as well try the most slippery one there is. Unlike many other creams, you won't have any problem doing another shaving pass over where you've just washed it off.

Renato
