Keep a food diary and it may pinpoint some agitators for you.
I'll be looking out for this, thanks. If it's minor heartburn/reflux from being hunched over my keyboard too long after dinner, a chewable Pepsid works for me. If it's from overeating at a restaurant or trigger foods (pasta sauce in my case), I go for the Alka-Seltzer labeled "Heartburn". It doesn't contain the aspirin/analgesic that most Alka-Seltzer does. The Heartburn one is harder to find as not all stores carry it. The Heartburn box also has similar coloring to the regular Lemon-Lime so it's easy to grab the wrong one by mistake.
Can you get Vernor's ginger ale? Nothing like it, that's for sure. Tho I think I like Canada Dry just as well.

Lol, I could fly you up to Flint's Bishop Airport for that price! My quest for local Vernor's has turned up that a building i've been walking, bussing past forever, eating at the restaurants that have occupied the space, was a Vernor's warehouse and distribution center in the 1940's. No retailers located yet...

Apple Cider Vinegar with the Mother works every time for me. Now they even sell it in a 4 pack of small bottles that are about the size of a bottle of 5 hour energy.
I drink a diluted glass every other day.
I have been telling that to my wife for years. Here’s what years of acid reflux did to me...
Barrett's Esophagus: Symptoms, Causes, and Treatments
Don’t just go with some home remedy. Consult with your doctor to be sure.
Doctors are good for ruling out stuff. Prilosec and acid blockers are not the way to go. They treat the symptoms and not the cause. You need stomach acid to digest food. Processed comfort foods and an over all poor diet 9 times out of ten are the cuases for acid reflux. It's a first world problem like gout. A simple change of diet along with using vinegar combined with drinking aloe juice, slippery elm, for treating symptoms combined with pre/pro-biotics and enzymes can bring your system back under control. We don't eat enough live foods to maintain gut flora. Make the changes and after things balance out you can slowly reintroduce the foods we all crave in moderation.
Yes, h pylori is something. The guy who first theorized it was laughed at because "how could bacteria live in that environment?" lol. Or maybe it's just something I misremembered?Poor nutrition habits are in many cases the root cause for heartburn. Prilosec is usually prescribed for 2 weeks, to allow for relief. Follow up with a dietitian is part of the treatment.
However, there are other root causes, that cannot be treated with home remedies or lifestyle changes.
This is where it is good to have a doctor RULE IN additional tests.
You cannot get that at wholefoods nor on web forums.
That's why I said Doctors are good at ruling out stuff... or finding stuff. I went through the doctor and he ruled out the bad stuff. I also did the two week Prilosec for relief. It did offer relief. It also exasperated acid reflux immediately as soon as I stopped taking it. This happened right around the time they started selling it over the counter and you could self medicate. The doctor did nothing to fix the situation. The Prilosec however did mask symptoms. That started a ten year Prilosec habit because it was convenient and easy. I switched to self medicating with Prilosec from the prescription because I could go about my life leading a seemingly normal life. There are other ways to get the temporary relief, and eventually you have to make the changes anyways. A doctor isn't going to do that for you.Poor nutrition habits are in many cases the root cause for heartburn. Prilosec is usually prescribed for 2 weeks, to allow for relief.
