What's new

Have you ever tried re-filling...

... those vintage DE blade packs we all (at least I do) like to keep in the original razor cases just like if you bought it new? When I first decided to go back to a DE razor it was for the shave. Now I find myself with more razors than I ever dreamed I would own at one time. But here's the thing, at first I bought just the razor, then when I won my first Fatboy it had a case and in the case was a partially used pack of Gillette blades in the metal black and white case. Cool, don't use the blades just leave them there looking good. Then came the next Fatboy, then the first '49 Superspeed, then the next and so on, all cased with their respective Gillette blade pack. So I began to think, "What if I re-filled the blade case with the blades I'm using? Naw, that's crazy." Is it?

So I ask you, does anyone out there do it?

I forgot the context in which it was raised, but I seem to recall that someone mentioned that you could easily refill the schick plus platinum blade containers. Now that you've raised the idea, I may go home tonight and see if I can do it.

Hey guys thanks for the input. Has anyone tried refilling a metal Gillette pack? Are they easier, just as easy or more difficult to refill than the others?

Yes, absolutely be careful. I have several surgical hemastats that I would use to hold the end as I slip the blade into the case. I would never try this any other way.

I've only once or twice pulled out a single Blue or Super Blue from one of the old mettalic dispensers to check the date codes. They will go back in with a minimum of fiddling
