Haslinger's Awesomeness

So this thread got me thinking, and I have not posted there because I hadn't had one of those moments yet. Today that changed. I tried Hanslinger for the first time and within seconds, I knew that this is the soap I've been searching for. This stuff is thick and slick. It has a slightly herbal and maybe a floral component. Normally I'm turned off by anything floral, but this was very mellow and complimented the soap smell. For a brief moment I even considered dumping the rest of my soaps on BST, but it was only for a second. Excuse the pictures, they were spur of the moment. I was looking for a quick shave, not to be "wow-ed" and requiring photo documentation. The lather shots are after three passes and a touch up pass. Even the leftovers looked like it was ready to go for another three. I know it's not the goopy yogurt looking stuff that normally gets photographed, but I'm using a straight and need it a little more thinned out.

Skin feels great as well. This stuff is a huge bargain IMO. :love-struck:

I haven't tried that particular Haslinger but I'm a Haslinger fan (Honig,Sandalwood and Seaweed). Glad you found something you like.

Haslinger is some great stuff & leaves my skin feeling very nice. It's definitely worth much more than it's price. I also actually like that they are smaller pucks as I feel like I may actually finish something and can then go on to another scent.

Yup, got my Schafmilch from WCS and wow! Yea, slick and long lasting, like 1/2 hour lasting! It's in my rotation. Great easy lather to get. Yeah it's right up there with my P-160 for shaving pleasure! Next is their Meerslagen, it's tallow too! If ya' haven't tried this marvelous soap, well give it a try!

Placed an order for this at WCS last night. Now you'll have me waiting by my mailbox. Can't wait after all I've read.

can someone comment on the scents? seaweed, sheep's milk, aloe? what's their take on sandalwood?

I was hoping someone would offer up some thoughts as well. The sheep's milk is a very light perfumy floral to my nose, maybe even herbal. For once, it is not a repelling scent.

I've tried only the Honig so far, and I must say the scent is very light and pleasurable.
The lather is out of this world - easy, slick, and makes my face feel great.

I too purchased the Haslinger Ewe not too long ago, and have a couple shaves with it under my belt. I find that it lather's much easier than MWF, and offers a great amount of slickness. I have recently had a bit of trouble with all my tallow soaps building great later, and am wondering if it has to do with my water hardness. To combat whatever the issue has been recently, I have been loading with good boar brush, build a bit of lather, then squeeze the later out of the boar brush, and switch over to a super or best badger brush.

This thread coaxed me into lathering up the Haslinger ewe's milk this morning. This soap has some serious chops. I have yet to have a disappointing shave with it. The lather is soooo slick given its yogurty density - heaven.

Ben what's your soap container in the picture?

It's the little plastic case/container that my Haslinger Aloe Vera shave soap puck came in from WCS. It's just a simple unlabeled case with a lid.... just a bit larger than the puck of soap. The ewe's milk does not come in a similar container from them.... you just get a puck in a wrapper with the label. I took the label off the ewe's milk wrapper, a few swipes with a glue stick on the face of the label and I stick it to the inside of the lid of the other container. I've got 4 pucks of the ewe's milk soap and only one of the Aloe Vera.... so I decided to use the container for the ewe's milk soap because I will reuse it more. I haven't tried the Aloe Vera soap yet, but it will fit nicely in one of my shave mugs at some point in the future.

Ben
