What's new

Has any person visited "All 50"?

What is your home state?

Where do you live now?

Favorite state?

Fave regional cuisine?

Why did you travel so much? (work, military, fun, etc.?)

Is 49 close enough? I plan on hitting Wyoming some time in the future, so I can make it an even 50.

I now live in the state I was born, North Carolina. My reasons for traveling are varied; mainly a combination of work, family, friends, and fun. I've been back in NC for the last three years; it's the longest I've stayed in one place in all my life.

As far as favorite states, it's hard to say. I would say that Maine is probably the most beautiful, but I like Texas, too. Texas being too hot and Maine being too expensive, I'm pretty much stuck where I am for now, but I would not rule out the possibility of moving to the mountains of NC in the near future. Right now it's a toss up between Appalachia and Sweden.

I'm not big on regional cuisine, so I can't comment on that. A Hamburger is the same no matter where you get it.

Most Southerners would vouch for Southern cooking.

Your honesty and humility is laudable.

Now excuse me, I need some pulled pork....

I did continental 48 and parts of Canada, was an otr truck driver for 7 years. My favorite area to drive in and see is the Southwest US favorite cuisine would be Southern overall but I will eat most anything except Liver and Rocky Mountain Oysters, I did at least try Liver. Currently live in the Northeast. As far as Favorite state that would be a toss up between several mostly western states, I guess it would just depend what I was looking for at the time.

I was born in Maine and raised in Indiana. We did a great deal of traveling when I was a kid. I made it to all of the lower 48 by age 19. I've also driven from Washington to Maine via Canada (coast to coast in Canada!). My military service has allowed me to live in Nevada, California, Texas, Washington and New Jersey. Temporary duty and/or training has also dropped me in Hawaii and recently in Alaska completing my tour of all 50 states! It has also taken me to 6 of the 7 continents and nearly two dozen countries. My primary reason for traveling the states was merely travel when I was a kid. My current reason for global travel is primarily military service. Favorite states to visit are probably Florida and California for obvious reasons. Best place I've lived in the US is Las Vegas, NV hands down! For the record, I currently live in Japan and I absolutely love it here!

48 here. I need to get to Rhode Island, but I'll likely never get to Hawaii. Lived in Alaska for a bit as a lad, and we always traveled by car when I was young.

Here is an interesting saga about two young Canadians who visited all 50 state capitols in 50 days, entirely by hitchhiking ... www.hitch50.com

I followed the adventures of Scotty and Fiddy while it was happening in real time. It was quite exciting to track them as they reached milestones and the ultimate goal.

Incidentally, Scotty MacDonald is the younger brother of Kyle MacDonald, who made successive trades, starting with a paper-clip, and ending up one year later owning a house. Follow his adventures in www.oneredpaperclip.com

I did all 50. I live in Georgia and I grew up here. I hit the road on road trips with my buddies through college and after. Hawaii and Alaska were the last two. I hit those on my honeymoon and a cruise respectively.

Favorite? Hawaii was beautiful but expensive. Alaska was gorgeouse but remote. Probably Washington. There's just something about the Pacific northwest that spoke to me. Maybe because it is so different from where I'm from.

Favorite food? I grew up in the south and that will aways be my favorite. That said, cajun and creole in Louisiana is pretty damn good too.

Missing Alaska, Washington, North Dakota, Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Been to a dozen or more countries too. All that as a kid pretty much - not much traveling since college
