What's new

Hair doing weird things as cold weather hits.

So, I'm noticing for about the third year in a row now I'm having this issue every year around winter and it goes away as the weather warms back up. Basically I get dandruff which is not normal for me and on top of that my hair gets super greasy. Normally I only wash it every other day, but during winter I have to wash it every day or look like a grease ball. Even if I wash it every day though I still get the dandruff. Again this only lasts through the cold months and goes away when it warms up. Any suggestions?

Just do what I do...shave it all off! :biggrin1: Seriously though, as far as advice for you, aside from using head and shoulders or a dandruff specific shampoo like Selson Blue. I've got nothing. You shouldn't have to wash your hair every day though, especially in the summer. Maybe you're shampoo is not good for your hair/skin type? Try some different shampoos, maybe even some natural soap ones. Mikes Natural Soaps has some new shampoo bars out that are supposed to be really good.

Not shaving the head yet...I'm sure I'll eventually go bald thanks to genetics so I'm enjoying it while I and swmbo can. :biggrin1:

Like I said, I never have that issue any other time than when it gets cold and dry out so normally I'm only washing my hair every other day at the most. I use a Burts Bees natural shampoo so I'm not sure whether or not a different kind will help since I've never had an issue with it before. I'm almost wondering if there's some kind of natural moisturizing shampoo I could try. It seems to me like maybe due to the dry air coming in with the colder weather hitting that my scalp is getting dried out causing the dandruff but also causing it to create more oil than usual to make up for it...
