What's new

Had a Rough Shave with MdC today.

I got the usual copious amount of lather that I always get. I even overloaded the brush just for the heck of it. Today's lather seemed to lack cushion. Actually, this is my only real complaint about MdC. It's a very slick soap, but not quite as cushioning as some others I've tried. Today's shave left me with some mild razor burn on my mustache area and a little sting from my A/S. The funny thing is, when I use MdC, despite that I tend to get less cushion from this soap, this usually doesn't happen. I guess we all have off-shaves once in a while.

I had a rough shave the other day with my autostrop. Afterchanging out the soap,i discoved i had a bad feather blade.sometimes there are other variables involved

Just goes to show that great product is not everything. Perhaps you simply had an off day...... Better luck tomorrow!

My first time using MdC was less than stellar.... but every shave since has been much better. I agree that it can be more "slick" than "cushiony".... but for me it is still a great soap. It's like MWF.... I've had somewhat bad lathers with both, but never a bad shave as a result.

Yeah, most of my shaves have been really good with MdC. Today's just sucked. I'm still feeling the razor burn a little right now at 10:40 in the evening.

There is a lot factor that can contribute to a bad shave...blade, lather, dry skin or just a combination of these things. My best shaves are when I go a few days without shaving. My worst are usually from shaving everyday by the third day my facial skin is ready for a rest. It seems to be more related to the blade for me than the lather most of the time.

Certainly lather is not the only factor that can contribute to a bad shave as Tom has pointed out above. I bought MdC over a year ago and quickly sold it. After all the reviews, I bought another to give it a second chance, then sold it again. MdC is a good soap. The scent is fabulous IMO, it lathers like the dickens, however, it never gave me the protection I wanted, no matter how often I tried. Like anything, for some it will work, for others(myself included) there are other soaps I rate more highly and prefer to use. Hopefully you just had an off day with MdC that will quickly forget.

Regardless of product or equipment, "human error" is sometimes the factor.

At least, that's what I tell myself after my bad shaves...:001_wub:
