What's new

had a funny conversation at Walgreens...

Went there to buy some talc powder for this summers heat $5.50 well spent)...(I found Caswell Massey Almond Talc with no plants in it for $13.95...3.5oz at my local beauty shop..lol..walked away)...anyways..
Stumbled over to the disposable blade area to look at any deodorants/body sprays on sale..the african american gentleman next to me was looking a specific razor which they didnt have in the store so the sales lady told him to look online for it..I stood next to him and said "hope you dont mind me suggesting..but have you thought about getting into wetshaving..his stopped and realized he had heard of this sort of thing...I showed him some DE pics on my phone..then he realized his father used to use them..I said well...today they aernt alot of money and can last many years with just the hand...the blades can be had cheap as well in the USA..so..I went on to tell him I have 4 DE/1SE and 7 straight razors..his eyes widened...so, yo shave with these tools all these years after they were no longer popular"..I replied of course..
I havent bought a single disposable razor in about 5 years..saved myself hundreds and my wife uses my 1st SE razor as well..loves it...he showed me the bumps on his face from getting ingrowns. having to pluck them and sterilize the area as well so infection doesnt set in..I told him I was sure if he got a safety razor, bowl, brush and creams..his ingrowns would go away..he smiled..
I showed him a pic of my shave den..he replied "man either you got s small barbershop in your bathroom, or you aint got alot of space"..I told him my condo isnt very big and is pretty cramp for space.

gave him our website.and showed him the B/S/T section and how reasonable the prices were just for the razors themselves...said he was REALLY interested and will check them out when he gets home..I ended the conversation with "my name is John, whats yours?..he replied "William, great to meet you sir"

I've had that conversation myself at Wal-Mart a handful of times. You can always tell when it's a good time for recommendations because they're trying to justify the high price of all the different cartridges.

Lol, and you can also see the pain on their face when they go to reach for the carts. They wince. Never had that conversation but I do find it amusing seeing the body language.

Well done!
I must say though, I chuckled at the fact that you have pictures of your razors on your phone.
That's hardcore man. You're in deep.

Keep it up.

So you've seen me at CVS before? haha unfortunately my wince included red splotchy face with ingrowns, or sometimes just an overgrown beard.

My favorite part of that story is when you said I showed him "our website". It is so obvious the ownership that everyone takes here. It's that ownership that makes B&B such a great website!

I was at CVS a few weeks ago when I saw a guy walk up to the cartridges and said "Oh my God !!" He walked away quickly before I could get to talk to him..

Is that not normal?

It's not for me. I'm more old school, I just give the old "Pssssst! Hey, buddy!" and when they turn from pondering the carts, I open one side of my coat where I've got about a dozen DE razors and a few brushes hanging from loops I've sewn in to the lining...

I've never had the opportunity for such a discussion. I'm only ever in the shaving section long enough to grab a bottle of ASB and then I'm done. Otherwise, these stores don't have what I use.

That was really nice of you.....Normally, as a hobby, I always wonder by the Shave aisles at the big stores, just to see if anybody is debating whether or not to shell out the $40+ bucks just for a pack of carts....I love the look on the face, its always the same look too. ahhhhhh......Makes it all worth while really. :)

I mentioned DE shaving to my collegues, that i use the "old razors" etc but they didn't seem interested. Same with my dad for that matter.

It's downright perverse!! Nobody needs to have pictures of razors on their phone. That space should be saved for photos of rich creamy lather, brushes and mugs!

I'm guilty of all of the above. :001_unsur Pics of razors, replates, lather, mugs, etc. inhabit my phone, more than my kids.......

I have a sore throat right now and I've been trying to avoid laughing, but that made me completely lose it.

Funniest thing I've read all day :a14:
