Ouch! Glad you're OK, though, Alex. We got nailed down here, too, and were also in the dark till Monday night.

Down here they're saying that they're hoping to have everyone back up by the weekend. Hope you're not waiting that long!

Glad you are ok. Sorry to hear about car and house.

Last year we had such a hot dry summer that three large oaks in my yard started declining. One about 60' tall forked and one half of it had died. When we got it down discovered a blight in it and found the blight in two others, so we lost three large oaks. At least I do not have to worry about them hitting the cars or house.

Sorry to hear about your car and house, but what about you razors....Good God man don't keep us hanging....:biggrin1:

Glad you made it through unharmed Alex and hope things get back to normal soon.

Alex-- We got hit by the same storm. We just got power back after five days. Hang in there. Insurance will pay for your car and house, but who will take care of the tree in my yard?

We had a storm come through our area a few weeks ago. Tree landed on my truck. $5000 damage to truck. We were without power for 3/4 of a day...others in our town went up to 4 days without power. Alex, I feel for you. Glad you and your family is safe.

Thanks badger gang , I hope that all others are safe too. This storm came at 2am without warning . I did get power back but no Internet yet......oh and my razors are safe, I jumped on top of them to shield from harm:)

Best of luck. We went through this last October/November in the Northeast with the surprises winter Halloween storm. Hang in there.

Alex . . . glad to hear you're ok . . . cars and houses and even some razors can be replaced . . . but you're priceless!

I was wondering if something was amiss . . . you weren't jumping in on threads you usually shed wisdom on! (It's ok, Porter took up the slack!!)

Stay safe, amigo!

Alex:

Glad to hear you are O.K. Cars and houses can be replaced. Alex can't.

Best wishes for a speedy restoration of your belongings.

Don

Metro DC area got a terrible hit. It was like a one-hour hurricane. Some folks still without power. My ex wife just got her power back late yesterday (that was 5 plus days). BTW, we've had record breaking heat with a record 105 degrees (that was 109 heat index). So, record heat and no AC. Nice timing, Mother Nature. I lucked out and never lost power although internet was down for a day.

Lines at Starbucks out to the parking lot cause nobody could make coffee plus some were there for AC or to charge their phones. Last Saturday I went there for kicks and got in this huge line. Starbucks cash register system was down so cash only. It was quite a scene.

It's scary how dependent we've become. And we act like sheep when our toys get taken away.
