A gent from Combe dropped in the aftershaves forum and confirmed that Aqua Velva is moving from the traditional glass to plastic bottles.
While the poster from Combe said there would be no change to the actual product, most Old Spice fans aren't happy with what happened to that icon when Proctor and Gamble moved it to plastic containers.
I remember Pete Rose pushing Aqua Velva. My dad read ads featuring Burgess Meredith extolling the "exclusive Aqua Velva club".
Since 1929 it went from mouthwash to aftershave, it's changed color, had a bittering agent added to keep servicemen from drinking it, and the bottle changed from square to the current shape. It'll probably be around after it moves to plastic, but if Combe gets purchased (there are rumors) who knows?
I know the Shavepocalypse gets kicked around a lot here, but what products do we use that our kids or grand-kids will only know as collectibles or dim memories, like we know Seaforth mugs, AS, soap and cologne?
