Good animal product free soaps?

IMightBeWrong

Loves a smelly brush
My Vegan friend has been taking a liking to the way that I shave but doesn't want to use animal products. I told him that picking up a good quality synthetic brush would be no problem and I know that tallow and lanolin free soaps exist (I have TOBS that fits the bill) but I don't know of any that really compare closely to some top performers like Mikes for example. You guys know of any vegan friendly soaps that don't dry too quickly and offer a good slickness and protection?

haven't used any tallow free soaps but many people like klar kabbinet, mama bears soap and the new formulation of the art of shaving soaps are tallow free. also I think most creams are free of animal fats but im not sure. KK is very cheap at about 25 dollars for 500g or almost a year of shaves.

Pretty sure VDH soaps would fit the bill. VDH Luxury is a fine soap and is pretty readily available. I say it compares favorably to high-end soaps.

LaToja is pretty awesome. Pretty much any glycerin soap.

Calani,
Dr. Dittmar
Klar Seifen
Provence santa fe green tea
Tcheon Fung Sing

I've used all these and they are top notch soaps.

Lots of raves on the VDH glycerin soap. My favorite non-tallow is Fig and Nutmeg, with matching balm. Dare I say heavenly? One of our artisan vendors makes vegan shave soap. I got one of his vegan bath soaps. Haven't tried it yet. I will say if his vegan shave soap lathers as thick and hearty as the tallow soaps, that will be some slick stuff.

L'OCcitane is a vegan friendly company and their soap does an ok job, I just tried it recently. I am not sure if Col Conk is vegan friendly, but its a glycerin base and I love their soap.

HoneyBee Soaps. My favorite artisan soaper making tallow free soap. Lots of different choices for scents.

Almost forgot Saint Charles Shave. For the longest time I thought they were tallow based, based on performance, but they are not.

Kiss My Face shaving cream is all right, but it got kicked to the curb when I got some C.O. Bigelow (or Proraso). There's a few other artisan made soaps that are listed here that are vegan, but I have not tried any of them...I'm sure I will, as I'm vegan. It'll just take time.

A Vegan friendly soap that I am eager to try myself is Los Angeles Shaving Soap Company. He is a fellow B&Ber, and people are saying very good things about the soap. I actually tend toward tallow soaps myself, but this one sounds like intriguing. While he is extraordinarily local for me, he is still pretty close to you too!

Just ordered some of their fougere which everyone raves about....looking forward to trying it.

I was worried I was the only vegan using tallow and lanolin soaps...
There's some Razorock that doesn't have tallow or lanolin. I didn't think Proraso did, but I could be wrong.

Soaps without any animal products that I personally tried and found to be excellent:

Petal Pusher Fancies, RazoRock La Famiglia, RazoRock King of the Castle, RazoRock Muguet de France (the only one of the LOA series without tallow), RazoRock XX, MdC, Pre De Provence, Calani (except the soaps listed with lanolin), eShave, ABCBA, La Toja (stick).
