What's new

goin SE for first time 2morrow "ghast"

If i was not a bit tentative about loading up the micromatic and having a go at it, I would be lying a bit.

watched several utube vids that i found links for, but still...the ridgidness of the blade is what makes me a little weakneed...

Im sure I will live through it, just like my first DE shave several months ago, a little blood loss, some learning curve, but all should work out well

tomorrows line up is
Gem Micro ClogPruf
tabac cream with boar brush
treet blade
perhaps a towel to mop up evidence before the 911 call.....

tips? i am all ears.....

1. Great razor
2. Lay the head of the razor flat against your skin.....back it off a few degrees.... and go to it.
3. GO SLOW..... NO PRESSURE and enjoy the loud sound of the whiskers getting cut.

You are about to embark on some of the best shaves you will ever get......!!!!!

Yeah it's all about the angle. Start out with the head against your face and as you stroke move the angle out ever so slightly until you can hear and feel that "scritchy" sound of the razor shaving. That is the sweet spot... don't move the angle out too steep.

I found it to be really easy... just go slow and gentle until you find that sweet spot in the angle.

Follow the advice given above and be prepared for the best shave of your life. Keep in mind that unless that Treet blade is stainless steel that it will rust unless you remove in from the razor and dry it off after use.

Happy shaving,
Be sure to post your experiences with SE shaving.

If the blade rusts, is this a sign of an inferior blade ?
I ask this because after my 1st (and only) SE shave, I rinsed it off, and put it away in the rack. About a week later, thinking to try SEing once more, I picked it up and it was filled with rust.
I was wondering where to post this question re rust, and you gave me a great opportunity.
Thanks.

Some blades are quicker to rust than others. PALs rust fast for me, and the Blue GEMs reportedly are very fast to rust. Try one of the other blades, even though the selection is rather limited, all SE blades are not the same.

wow, im speechless!

that was without a doubt the best shave of my life.
Used the micro with treet blade, boar brush and a sample of Godrej cream that Judge Kemp was so kind to send me along with a razor from WTB.

3 passes, 2 tiny weepers that really arent worth mentioning.
A couple little spots arent quite BBS on my neck, but overall an amazing shave and wonderful start to the day!
When i threw the clubman AS on, the strangest and most unexpeted thing happened, NOTHING.... no burn. :001_huh:

Ive been converted.........:biggrin1:

Yes, listen to Badenov. The audible feedback from these is amazing.

I will almost guarantee you have the Gem Blue Stars. Get thee some stainless blades or the actual blued carbon steel blades.

Way to go, man! :thumbup1:

Not everyone seems to "get" the micromatic on the first try, so you did a good job.

thank you gents! :thumbup1:

its been about 8hrs since this epic shave, too soon to lather up again ? i think not, but alas i shall wait for the morning, the woman needs tending to :blushing:

i cant quite put my finger on it, but this SE thing has something very special to it......

Congrats I have a MM that on my first use left me with a minefield of weepers when I was done. However my second trial on it was nothing short of a fantastic shave.
