can anyone tell me if there were any changes or “improvements” over the years during Gillette’s production of the Slim Adjustable razor? Are there any differences between a slim made in 1962 vs one made in 1968?

Plating/name variations, yes. Changes/improvements, no.

I know that the 1964 version came with a tracking device, at least in the movie Goldfinger.
1961 on the left, 1966 on the right. The tab bent over the center bar on later version, and the shape of the bottom corner part of the cap, just under the safety bar changed (sorry I don't know what to call that part). I don't know when these changes were made but I think the bent tab was in 1962. The shape change was later, a J1 I have is the same as my G4, while L2 has the change.
