Gillette slim adjustable, what can I clean it with?

I got home from work today to find my new Gillette Slim. Im so excited to try but I have too many "grown up jobs".
I would just like abit of advice on what to clean it with. I have already soaked in oust, a descaler but I really want to give it a good shine. So I got some 'Peek' metal polish.
It does have some plating loss on the handle, nothing major, in fact Im really happy with the condition. I bought it off the bay for pretty cheap, which I excitedly posted about in the week. It did show a picture with the plate loss but I foolishly thought it was grime, my inexperience I suppose as Im fairly new to this collecting razor lark.
Im just wondering, will the metal polish do more damage? I dont know what the coating will be though.
Also does anyone know who does replating in the UK and how much it costs. Not sure if I will go down that route but would be good to know.
Also the seller packed in four packs of Wilkinson sword blades, I was really happy as I have had nothing but pain in the arses on the bay recently. So thank you to that person if they happen to be on B&B.

Well that should certainly work. If you've cleaned it with plain dish soap, a swish in alcohol then yes, take a polish to it. Use cotton swabs to get into the corner and on the rust too! In fact leave the polish paste. on the problem area for minute then polish away.

As for replaters in the UK, our member Onotoman does really great work and has many happy customers. Contact him for pricing via PM if you'd like.

That said, I'd just shave with it if I were you. It looks to be in good + condition from your pictures. It's a tool, not a museum piece, but it's your face and your money... Good luck either way!

Would anyone know the year of the razor. I have looked at mr razor but its possible it could be a couple different ones.
