Gillette - Executive ~

I am curious did they make the Gillette Executive model in any finishes other than the Rhodium plate? If so, what range of years were they produced?

I don't think so either. But they did also call the fatboy an executive when it was gold plated.

I am still learning...but I thought the Gold fatty was the *only* executive.....so much to learn! Until I joined B&B a few months back, I had no idea I've been using an Executive for 15 years! I just thought it was a cool looking fat boy!:tongue_sm

Here is my rhodium executive. :001_smile

You guys who are fortunate enough to own the “Rhodium Executives”, are making me full of envy.

I think the “Rhodium Executives” are the coolest (most beautiful) razor ever made by Gillette. I was hoping they might have made non-rhodium (read: less expensive & desired) finished model that a mere mortal like myself could afford. But alas, I guess it is not to be.

Is that basically the same razor as a Brit #66??

Not really, Chris. The #66 has the "Rocket style" TTO knob/shaft but this one is stationary and hollow like all the US made TTO razors. The head is the same (with the diamond base plate) but the handle strongly resembles a British Aristocrat #21.

The Executive looks more like a british #21, but he has a solid base plate:

That is certainly a beautiful razor. I couldn't own a razor that I hadn't used and wasn't going to continue to use, even if only on special occassions.

I understand your position and agree to a point. Of the over 100 razors in my collection, five have never been used. Of those five, I have backups for three and they are in my rotation. Only the Executive and a President have no backups. I would use everything else and do shave with them on special occasions.

Thank you Bill, Achim, et.al....I am fortunate to have a #21 and #66 (Thanks to poonjanji sp?) I see the difference now. And I can say....they are FANTASTIC shavers!! I don't know if it's in my head, but the Brit aristocrats just plain work for me!!! The #16 is my all time fave!! (Again thanks to Poonjanji!! AKA Michael!)

Are the Aristocrats #21 hard to come by too? Or are they easier to find & less expensive?

What would one expect to pay for a #21, in nice shape, but not necessarily a museum piece?

Beautiful razor pics! I have an Executive in my shaving rotation and I love the shave. I'm partial to the 40's Aristocrats and this is similar.:001_smile
