GFT Sandalwood soap smell super weak?

So i just opened a box of sandalwood soap in a bowl and couldn't really smell anything? Like how your hand smell after doing the dishes? Please tell me that this will change as I use it?

Unfortunately, the Sandalwood shave soap does not mirror that of the Sandalwood cream. The sandalwood scent of the soap is almost non-existent. Good soap though.

It gets a little stronger and a little woodier as you lather it, but it's still not all that impressive.

I was aware that the soap did not smell like the skin food or even the cream? But I thought it would smell woodier/drier and have more of a scent, why else should I not stick with my MWF?, ugh, lol.

I find that after you use it a few times the "coating" wears off and the scent is a little more potent. It will never be room-filling, but you can definitely smell it. I have the Violet and it started off very subdued but got a bit stronger after a few lathers.

Does it ever get as potent as the cream?

did this change when they took out the tallow? Was the sent this weak before the reformulation?

OK, so I just completed my first shave with it. I could hardly smell anything. :( Then when I was done I put water on it and agitated the soap with my brush then repeated, yet I could hardly smell anything. What is going on with it?

Do all of trumpers soaps have a significantly weak scent compared to their cream counter parts? Is this true with any other shave companies? I prefer soaps, but scent is my first priority.

If strong scent is your thing, you'd be best served by getting glycerin soaps (like Mama Bear) rather than triple-milled soaps (like Trumper). The fragrances from glycerin soaps are much more potent.

If it is an older puck the scent has faded from the outer layers of soap and it will take several uses, maybe a week's worth before the scent picks up. It depends on how much you are loading up your brush (wearing away more soap layers) each time you shave. Really scrub that puck with your brush to load it up and you'll get to the scent faster!

My GFT sandalwood is subdued but compared to GFT Rose and Violet I think it's the strongest scented of those three soaps.

I got it from shavingessentials, this week, and the puck was wrapped in plastic, would it still lose scent?

I bought a GFT Sandalwood soap i London (9 Curzon Street) last Friday and from that very moment I removed the plastic from the puck it have had a nice discreet scent which I prefer.

Did you have to stick it up to your nose to even smell it?

Until I had removed the plastic, yes, but afterwards I just had to lift the lid of the bowl.

Well even after taking the plastic off, I had to stick it up to my nose to smell anything. Then after I lathered I had to do the same with the same results. Then after shaving I wetted it and agitated it to wear off the outer layers, and still smelled hardly anything :(

don't understand the point of making what is supposed to be a scented soap, faintly scented?
