Getting my soap to fit the bowl

I just got a couple pucks of Ogallala Bay and have some empty Mamma Bears plastic jars which are slightly larger than the pucks. Can I do the 10 second at a time microwave trick or will that ruin the soap?

It's safer and easier to grate it.

I would simply trim the puck with a knife to fit in your bowl, but the Ogallala website suggests microwaving their soaps to fit, so it would be hard to go wrong there.

If you do nuke 'em, try 5-8 second bursts instead on 10secs.

Just try not to grate a chunk of skin off of your thumb knuckle like I did the other night grating a stick of La Toja into a bowl.

I have taken to shaving the soap with a knife - like whittling a stick then compressing it into the bowl. Not quite a quick as grating, but my wife hates it if I use her kitchen tools for non-kitchen tasks. I can do a puck of Tabac in less than 5 minutes all the way down. If you just shaved off the top and packed it around the sides, you would not have to do the whole puck and could be done in a couple of minutes.

You can do just this. Ogallala soap is able to be melted and it's completely safe. When I had this soap this is what I did and it worked fine.
