Franklin - Christoph: excellent experience.

Hi all,

So, I've been in the market for a new pen, and really thought about venturing out toward the "fountain", having experienced roller-balls. Anyway, as a member her on B&B, I checked out the forum and saw the notice about the B&B pens being offered by Franklin-Christoph. I went to their website and checked things out, and then I realized that their home office was in Raleigh, NC (only a few miles from my workplace).

I made the call and spoke with Jim and he invited me over to check out some of their writing instruments.

It was a very pleasant experience. Jim took multiple pens apart, showed me the ins and outs, let me try several pens. Unfortunately, they still did not have the B&B pens (which I should note is a nice DUKE blue color). I ended up with the same model (the 27), just without the badger badges. I jumped in and got the fountain pen (in fine), a conversion kit to make it a rollerball, and some of the denim ink.

I also acquired their new fountain pen notebook to try out. I'll post a review about it later, but so far it looks great!

Cheers!

That is such a reasonably priced pen... I haven't tried one yet but I haven't heard any bad things said about them either. So, that's a real positive.

Awesome that they invited you over to visit!

Awesome. Please report back on the new line of paper products. I just might have room on the shelf for a few new journals.

Congrats on the new pen! That is cool that they let you come in and look at, and sample some different pens!

I am happy with the two B&B essential pens I have, and am looking forward to a few other F-C pens!

Glad to hear good reports on the pen. I see a B&B LE Part 2 coming out in may and will probably get in on it. Is there a significant difference (other than price) between the steel and gold nib?

As far as the difference in nibs... you'll have to ask someone more experienced. I did find out that the medium was too "thick" for my liking, and I ended up with a fine point.

Interesting. I like the M F-C nib I have because it's on the fine side of medium, compared to most western M nibs. It writes almost as fine as a JoWo F.
