Anybody have any experience with this? The price has been in freefall at London Bathecary for a while. If it's any good, I thought that I'd pick up a bottle for Mrs. Nid Hog and stash it away until Valentine's Day. What about it, rose aficionados--any thoughts?

Did you read the reviews on Basenotes? Rather mixed opinions, so may not be of that much help. Have no personal experience with it myself.
Got it for my wife at the discounted price for Christmas and she loves it. I really like the rose scent too, so I'd recommend it for the money.

I did, but they were pretty mixed and not really enough to judge.
It's a very femanine scent. Nothing particularly special. In England, there are many perfume makers that bottle a similar scent. It's a heavy sweet scented musky rose scent. Actually it smells nothing like the roses that grow in England which tend to be quite mild and gentle scents if they have any scent at all.
A nice realistic rose scent is very delicate and gentle and passes quickly. It is not offensive or hard on the nose in any way whatsoever. I don't think I would say that about Floris China rose.

I didn't care for it and my SO wouldn't go near it. I do love rose but not this rose.
I wouldn't buy anything blind. If you can't find a sample locally, I wouldn't bother. Even if the price is right, if she hates it you'll have wasted your $$.
If rose is what you're looking for, I would suggest you check out "Une Rose" by Editions de Parfums. It's a very feminine rose that rests on a bed of woods. It's also very strong -- a 50ml bottle should last a LONG time. (I actually have a sample card of this frag -- if you PM me your address, I'll pop it in the mail to you.)

Nid, was just looking at Floris because of Santal, and noticed that Parfum1 had deals equal to China Rose on Edwardian Bouquet and White Rose. Commenters on Basenotes had nice things to way about both, and White Rose is apparently regarded as a rose fragrance. No experience myself. Found it while browsing and thought I would point it out.

Thanks for the rose advice guys. My wife happened to check in while I was writing this and she told me that it's C&S Dark Rose or nothing. So I guess that my decision is made for me.
And a good choice it is!!
