Flea Market Find

Found this at an Antique Flea Market in Gurnee, Illinois. Saw it sitting in the display case with a price tag with $5.00 written on it. I about broke my neck getting to the desk to ask the lady to get it for me.

As far as I can tell, it appears to be a 1907 single ring old. The case is a little rough, but aside from the grime it's in great shape. The serial number on the inside handle is 874930 which, unless I'm reading the table wrong, makes it a 1907.

I do have a question for the experts - When I took it apart, I noticed that the surface which is less exposed to the grime of ages seems to look like you would see for something that was silver plated. Does anyone know what these were plated with? It sure doesn't look like nickel, as it has that "whitish" coloring you get on old silver.

I'll clean it up and post an "after" picture as soon as I can.

You are correct, these old beauties were all silver plated. Very nice score...It's a fine shaving razor.....Enjoy it!!!

Yes, it's silver plated. They do clean up nicely. I have an '07, but with no case. It started like this:

Did you find this at the store right off the highway (by Joes Crab, and Outback)?? I was there just a few weeks ago...

Line a pot with aluminium foil, put a few spoons of bicarbonate soda, detergent and add boiling water and boil it for a few-10 minutes. Clean with a cloth and soap- it will look great!

Nice score. Polish that baby up and you will be amazed at how it will look. Let me know if you every want to sell it because I'm looking for a cased razor of that vintage!!

That's the one! Just off of Grand Ave. I spent about 2 hours browsing the cases. Quite a few bakelite brushes, an over priced Stahly and Ever-ready, some vintage blades, one Gem Micromatic and a ball handle Tech.

There is also a nice shop on the north side of WI 50 west of Route 45 in Pleasant Prairie that I found a cased '51 Superspeed in a few weeks ago. I'm going back to that one today.
