First two razors...

So I posted over in the newbie section...My name is Tom and I'm a new guy. So I did some ebay shopping before I could get out and check out some of the antique/pawn shops in the area. These are the two razors that I landed thus far (I have never dragged a safety razor across my face and yet I already have an incredible urge to collect them) Anyways, if you feel like it let me know how I did or what you think...if you don't feel like it, no big deal.

Was being a little stingy so I wasn't looking for anything to pricey yet. But I landed a 1970 P2 tech and a supposed 30's bostonian...although the description wasn't the greatest, so once it shows up I will investigate further. So..whatcha think? Decent couple of first DE's?

Nice place to start mate well done the Tech is a lovely gentle razor. I like the look of the second OC raxor will look great after a clean and gentle polish

I just got through shaving with a Gillette tech similar to yours, very pleased with it and I hope yours treats you well.

Great way to start! I have several OC's similar to yours and I love 'em. Don't worry, if you're anything like the rest of us, you'll have a couple of drawers full of razors in no time.

Just for me how do those Gillette 'new' shave? I've been out bid on a few latley but have my eye on at least four at the moment. I have the Fatip piccolo and was after a less aggressive OC. Would a 'New' be ok?

I agree, those are two great razors. The Tech is mild shave, but not toothless, so it works well and is interesting enough that you'll want to keep it it around.
The Long Comb is just one of the great, iconic razors. If you only had that one you'd be doing great.
Have fun-

That's a tough question to answer. The Fatip Grande is my favorite, with the New Long Comb a close second. I know it sound self-contradictory, but to me the Fatip seems both a little smoother and a little more aggressive. If you like the Fatip at all, you'd probably like the New.

Welcome to B&B! The Tech is a perfect choice for your first DE - it is great for perfecting your shaving technique. The NEW is well-regarded as a well-mannered open comb, and everyone should at least try one. Being from the Depression era, their gold plating is very thin and they usually look a bit beat-up . . . but still shave like a champ!

Enjoy your shaves!

Those might have been the first two purchased, but seeing as they haven't even shipped yet I took a ride to a local antique shop just to check it out. Pretty good score there. Two 1965 razors, one flare tip Gillette and a TTO Schick and a Gillette razor case for $12. Everything in amazing shape. If I knew how to upload pics from my iPhone I would... Shaved with the Gillette, and awesome experience. No cuts and a great shave. Safe to say I am hooked.
