Phoenix Copper Gold Thing

PHOENIX COPPER GOLD THING.jpg

Tonight I had a mental, experimental, transcendental, transformative shave in the bath with an American copper gold thing with two rows of teeth - Double Overhead Comb or something !

I wanted a good `razon d`etre` tonight because I`ve been unblocking a sewer in the garden all day.

I am used to £25 junk razors all my life - wonky German antique straights, lovely Chinese wonders and junkshop junk.

Then, finally I land on this lovely site and the Dragon gets me this drop dead gorgeous heavy pink gold thing from America for my 59th last week.

I have had good shaves in 45 years but never so effortless, rewarding and satisfying; I didn`t think my face was worth it after getting sand-blasted in the Sahara for years by sand storms etc but the Dragon saw this site and went shopping for gorgeous useful bling.

I think the razor & blades were from Phoenix and not Arizona haha - what a luxury face scraper ; all my other ones look and feel like shaving with a prison shiv compared to this - Thank You All for showing me and the missus the light - Bless You and big hugs from us both !

Thank you Tathlum - it`s the best razor I`ve ever had in my life - honest !

Also with the ouds lately people are REALLY noticing me - and I was Johnny-B-Bad before - oh dear - nevermind.

Gorgeous looking. It looks like SLOC. It must be an excellent shaver indeed.
Sorry I don`t know what a SLOC is - I know what a razor is but know next to nothing about brands ; still got a lot to learn.

I`m used to budget stuff and the PAA Ascension Twist copper is a revelation.
I`ve not put the nylon washer and black rings on it yet but it works great.
I have two other Chinese adjustables but they`re nowhere near as good.

Glad you are enjoying it...

Thanks for the reply and link ButterfaceX - I`ve never had a posh razor before so it`s a treat and I didn`t know how good new ones were; so smooth and easy to use.

Since I arrived here shaving is infinitely more enjoyable and I`m trying to put more effort in my appearance - The Dragon says I`m getting more domesticated.

Mine arrives tonight. Looking forward to it! I have used the Ascension Select before, so this is just a posh upgrade (and a weight upgrade).

Glad you are loving it. Haven’t heard much bad about this razor. Just FYI, they are made in China for PAA.

Oh brilliant Jamolay - I`d just tighten it up first; see how you go on; then if you want a little more blade feel and bite unscrew it a little anti-clockwise to your preference; it`s not mega aggressive and I think it`s really comfortable.

The useable angle range is quite narrow but it took me like 30 seconds to get the hang of it; I`m used to rough razors with big gaps and the last time I had a weeper was years ago; I can feel the bite before it nicks and I back-up and reverse straight away.

Using a double-edge safety razor is so easy compared to a 1870 antique German carbon straight; though now I`m older, I want an easier, simpler life; so safety`s most of the time and only use a cut-throat before major family functions a few times a year.

I`ve learn so much in the few weeks I`ve joined this lovely forum ; before that I didn`t know what manufacturers were good - a razor was just a razor and I still put any blade in to hand because I can shave with most things and I`m not a creature of habit; I like a challenge and a bit of variety.

Like cooking - I don`t do recipes, time things or use weights or measures but love 3+ way fusion cooking and I feed the homeless on a regular basis.

I never want the same meal twice - too limiting and boring to me - it`s like the difference between watching a film and going to see actors doing classic playwrights` in live theatre.

Oh thanks for the suggestion ErkRusselReserve - I've never used a Nacet before - although I've used loads of Gillette blades before ; I have loads to go through first - London Bridge, Wilkinson Sword, Torpedo Lieres Carbon, Treet Black Carbon, Vintage Personna Med Prep, Feather, Sumiko, Lord Rainbow, Astra - got enough to last me for the rest of my days - I'm nearly sixty and had a hard life so...

I gave 100 Phoenix shaving blades from America to my neighbour last week and still got a drawer full.

My exploding razor knows secrets
A man of integrity who works hard for his family deserves a well-crafted razor to shine upon his face.

This is the holy sword of a real knight.

I've only used this Phoenix Ascension copper 3 times because I have about 50 different ones and about 15 different heads and I like swapping handles.

I think I've got plenty of razors and blades but might get a couple of decent vintage Gillettes next year - I have loads of travel razors and Techs and one slim adjustable but I want an old type and a 109 or a '84 with a short handle and that'll do.

Just need frags really because I didn't buy any myself for years and didn't get decent smellies for gifts.

Got more essential oils recently and some perfumers alcohol so I want to make more frags and more custom liquid soaps.

I did loads of perfumes, aftershaves and herbal medicines for Christmas and they just vanished in no time so I'm happy because we raised money for the homeless and needy which was brilliant.
