First time with 37C

My 37C just arrived today, and as the timing would have it, I had 2 days growth, which is very rare for me.

I loaded up with a fresh Feather, whipped up some Tabac, and went to town. Wow! Wow! Wow! I got noise from it as I shaved, but honestly, for most of the shave it felt like it was wiping away the hairs rather than cutting them, just so, so, smooth! Wow! My only regret now is that I don't get to shave with it again until tomorrow.

Now, what's the next slant I should be looking for?

1) A hoffritz
2) A Fasan

Both are excellent shavers, too. The Fasan, in my book, is the more remarkable of the two.

So a question on your recommendation of a Hoffritz. As far as I know, the vintage Hoffritz (e.g Merkur) are identical to the current Merkur slants from a functional perspective. Is your recommendation just because of the vintage factor, or the case, or something else? I definitely need to try out some other slants though, and the Fasan is on the list.

I've heard of the Hoffritz, but they look waaaay too expensive for me on ebay! Never heard of a Fasan, but i'll check them out!

Hoffritz was just a reseller/rebranding of various razors, including the Merkur slant. That was the point of my question to Chester. As far as I know the vintage Merkur/Hoffritz slants are the same as the 37C (sans of course being vintage, having cool cases, etc). I've seen a thread where they were compared, and even had the same casting marks, so they should be nearly identical. I guess it's possible the metals used might have been different?

That said, there was a "super slant" (that may not be the correct name) that was made by Merkur as well, that had a steeper slant. That would only be available vintage.

I have the 37c and 39c and haven't decided which handle I prefer. Nice problem, huh?

I could not decide so I got both a 37c and a 39c (short and long handle Merkur slants).

I just have not had the time to play with both to decide who stays and who goes and now It looks like another week before I can even get to the new razors that have come in... In other words it might be a MONTH or more before I see either slant again. Life sux......

A logical step would be the 39C to see if you prefer the longer handle and the additional weight.
