First straight razor shave

While perusing the Hobbyist/Vendor section, I found a shave ready Gold Dollar 66...

I decided to give it a go as my first straight razor shave. Aside from a little razor burn and one tiny weeper, I was not disappointed. Anyone else (besides the famed Seraphim, though I would be honored to have him sound off here) using Gold Dollar (re)finished razors? Can you compare the experience to any other razor(s) you use/have used?

I haven't used one yet, but from what I've seen, once properly modified, they shave like a razor worth far more than they cost.

my first SR shave came from a modified GD from a member here. it was fantastic once i got over the first stroke jitters. I don't have a strop so i havent used it for a full shave again but am very anxious to.
