First shave with a straight!

Now my face looks like an extra from a zombie flic.

Not quite. Have managed to collect a few straights over the last few months, just received 4 back in the mail from Ambrose after he did his magic on the edges. Tried a Henckels 70 1/2. Strange sensation getting such audible feedback from a blade. Managed to get DFS shave on cheeks, not so great on neck and chin. Cleaned up with a Merkur slant. Aftershave takes on a new feeling after a straight shave!

I obviously have a long ways to go but I feel that today's shave was a good start. Now to go practice my stropping skills on a Tony Miller strop

Congrats on your first str8 shave. Jose puts a nice edge on a razor, I'm waiting on my third from him.

When I did my first shave with a straight I also had some not so good results, and I wondered how one could ever get a decent shave with the thing.

I stayed with it though, and things slowly came around. Now I get excellent shaves with my straights.

Just keep at it, go slow, watch your angles, and as time progresses your shaves will get better as your techniques improves.

Congrats on your first! Getting over that hump is critical IMHO to gaining confidence.

It only keeps getting better...hang in there...you'll have good days and bad...just like life!
