First few shots from my Italy trip

I returned last night from a week in Italy. These are a few of the first shots from the trip. They were taken at Paestum, a small town south of Salerno containing some amazing Greek ruins. I welcome any critique you can provide...

Now to work on reviewing, sorting and post processing the other 1650 pictures I took...

Welcome back Bill. I can only imagine that you have had a great time and I'm really looking forward to seeing some more of your pictures.

Now, please, get some sleep!

Thank you. The second batch consists of: a shot from the plane window as we came into Naples looking out at Capri; a night shot of Minori, sunset in Capri; the Biblioteca San Francisco in Revello; Grotta Azzura in Capri; Rock formations on the Mediterranean Sea side of Capri; Sunset over the lighthouse on Capri; and a panoramic of Minori.

Holy cow are those amazing! I tip my hat to you sir. I was in Italy about a month ago. I wish my pictures were a third as good as those.

Paestum is a great visit!! Did you by chance eat at the little trattoria on site? We were there in the autumn, and it was gorgeous!!

I missed out on that, John. I only had about an hour on site. My wife was napping at the B&B in Salerno after our flight into Italy, so I couldn't stay too long (and didn't dare eat without her)...

Next time for sure! Paestum is, I believe, the finest existing example of ancient Greek architecture anywhere in the Med. Hope you go to the small museum there; most interesting. Only went there once though we lived just outside Napoli for three years - my loss! And your photos are just outstanding!

Very nice work! I like the darker hues such as night or sunset, brown, black, earth tone, blue etc. in this set. Love the last shot. Beautiful.

If I had to sit through a vacation photo slide show presentation, I'd take pleasure in seeing the set of photo's you've shared here, and likely be eager to see more at the end. Very nice work. I really like the surreal temples at Paestum shot with the wide angle. The burnt out sun draws the eye, but the keystoning temples seem to point towards the sun, flowing into it. The hot sun also adds to the atmosphere of ruin. Yeah, I'm reading too much into it, but it's a different and cool shot!

wow those are amazing photos!

I particularly love photos taken out of airplane windows. The first flight I took I looked out the window and the clouds rolled on as far as I could see and they looked like fluffy cotton balls, one right after the other. Seemed as though I could walk on them. I was in awe.
