First DE razor

A new shop just opened up locally (I like supporting local stores). They carry a small selection of razors; Merkur Futur and a few EJ's - though they're now completely out of stock. I had asked if they will be carrying the EJ DE.89 (as I've read that's a good place to start?) but alas, it doesn't seem that they will.

They will however, be getting in at the end of the month a number of EJ Chatsworths - no mention of price yet though from what I've seen online...those are pricey. Again, I like supporting local stores but is that a razor you'd recommend a newbie? Otherwise, I'll look at the EJ DE.89 online.

Both EJ's are mounted with the same head which is a very good head to start with and will still be good when you are more experienced.
The all metall razor is a lot more affordable though and the balance of the razor will be a bit different (in itself neither good nor bad btw).

Oh...I didn't know that. So basically, the price differential would be in the handle. I don't suppose all EJ heads are the same?

Heads are all the same; maybe the finish on the more expensive models is a little different but as it is the "89-series" are top notch anyway (as on its german cousin, the Mühle R-89).
