I just got one of these in the mail today, too! '48-'50 Aristocrat is what the wiki is telling me. Beautiful razor!
The flaking lacquer is a little annoying, though. The head on mine looks about the same as yours. Anyone know if there's a good way to take it all off?

I am being forced to make a resolution to only buy my razors here or in person from now on. Not that I've had a problem with the razors I got from ebay but my wife is also getting annoyed with my constant purchases. It's just to easy to make purchases on the ole bay.
She says that razors are like Pokeemons to me, "gotta collect them all".

If you want to take close ups you need to use the Macro setting on your camera, it's usually a symbol that looks like a flower in a pot.
I had the same problem until somebody informed me and I went back and read the users manual.
I use a home made light box, a couple lamps and a tripod to take the picks I post on my site.

Nail polish remover (the kind with acetone) should do it, but you should be aware that the gold plating underneath is VERY thin and the lacquer is there to protect it.
Thanks! I figured it was there for that purpose, and I think I'll take my chances. The flaking is really obvious on the head, much like Delta's new razor, and it just looks kinda trashy to me. This razor deserves better (or at least a consistent worse).

Metal the pretty Purple Felt that is in the botton is all gone in the top so I cut a piece of foam to fill it in.

I did that yesterday. I was impressed by the heft and the effortless shave that was BBS that I got using a Red Personna blade.

I am loving my golden razor!!!
I have a couple of them and she went with me on a 9day cruise. Loved shaving with it every day.
