After years of delaying I finally did it yesterday. Bought some disposables, palm lathered some Nancy Boy shave cream and went to the shower. Voila! I feel like I'm in grade 5 again

I don't shave but I do trim and it does make you feel cleaner and sweat less...
I use a DE to shave my armpits maybe once a month or so. It makes me feel much cleaner and I notice it really helps on B.O.

Yep I was having problems with sweating a lot so thought I'd do this. I don't have a big heart so took me a while to convince myself to do it. Yeah I know doesn't make sense when I shave my face with an R41 lol!
I do trim my armpits sometimes for hygiene. But as I get fitter the task is getting surprisingly difficult. Getting the razor into the concave area just won't happen, no matter what funny contortions I do.
Still, short underarm hair is better than an untamed forest.

Straight once a month, N-S (arm toward ribs), single pass.
Used to use the cart and it took multiple "buffing" passes in both directions.

Congrats. Tried it once felt too weird for me afterward. Now I use electric clippers and about a 1/2 inch guard and kept them neatly trimmed. Really helps reduce sweat and looks 100 times better.
I literally take a buzzer to my pitts every now and then, it doesn't bother me much, I usually either take all my hair off my entire body, or trim is super close 2 or 3 times a year....not winter though lol. need the coat.
Tried it a few times and liked the neatness of it, but not the burn or irritation. Got a body trimmer and haven't looked back. Plus, SWMBO doesn't find it weird or complains of any smell. I use a alum stone for deoderant; as for fighting sweating... the trim helps, but wearing an undershirt helps as well in a limited way. Some days you sweat, sometimes you dont.

I was initially debating between disposables or a trimmer. I thought though that the trimmer would be a hassle with the clippers and everything.

How does shaving armpit hair make one sweat less?
Mostly it just stops the build up of B.O. I think.
Deodorant or Antiperspirant can work better when it's on your skin. Not only can you end up sweating less, but you use less product to get there.
Your stick of deodorant will last longer and your shirts won't get as much build up too.
I just DE shaved my pits yesterday. Two or three times a year for me.
