Fatboy vs. Slim

Hey everyone,

I own both the Fatboy and Slim and was wondering what the big difference is in terms of the shave of these two razors. I just received the Fatboy and have only used it twice but having a hard time figuring out what, if any, difference there is between the shave with this versus the Slim. Hoping some of you can shed some light on this. Thanks!

I could be wrong but im pretty sure the head is the same, the difference being in weight and length.

I had them both. The Fat Boy has a bulky head while the Slim and the SuperSpeed have the same head. The Fat Boy is heavier but for some reason I felt the head doesn't get the job done for me. I like the slim a lot.

i've been wondering this too. i have two slims (a regular and a long black handle) and just got a fatboy but haven' used it yet.

Some people feel that the slim is easier to navigate around trouble areas, like the nose and mouth, whereas others prefer the weight of the Fatboy. Those seem to be the generalized opposing camps on these two razors.

I have both and like both.

Fatboy is heavier, handle length shorter but larger diameter, head is more domed.

I agree with Slim being easier to manoeuvre but I like the heft of the FB and it gets the nod for me but only by a head.

I have both ( in fact I've two slims ).

The primary differences as far as I'm concerned are thicker, shorty handle , more domed head on the FB and the weight ( 78g vs 71g )

I like the heft of the Fatboy and it appears to give me a better shave than the slim. Don't know if it's the extra weight or whether my technique just suits the FB better.........

( That being said I get a better shave with my #16 than my FB so maybe it is the weight ( 82g ), head is about the same shape as the FB, but I'm just not experienced enough to be able to give you a definitive answer. )

I like the weight of the fatboy and get better shaves with it. I will probably give my slim to a friend.

I had a Slim and a Fatboy. I decided I like the non adjustable razor, the SS or Tech (and, of couse, the GEMs), better than either. I sold the Slim but can't seem to part with the Fatboy because it is so minty. And I do use it. Which was better? The thicker head of the Fatboy was not an issue. And I liked the handle. I think this discussion will continue, I'm sure.

the difference for me: I can't seem to get a decent shave with the Slim; I always get a better-than-decent shave with the Fatboy.

And I don't know why.

I believe as long as there are Fatboys, and as long as there are Slims, and as long as there is B&B - and it seems all will be around for a long, long time - the debate will continue without a definitive way to determine conclusively which is "better". The differences have been described in the thread above. Both give excellent shaves. For me, I'm going to call on the "power of AND". Instead of Fatboy OR Slim, I choose Fatboy AND Slim.

Slim is nice and agile. It has the low profile head (later used in post 1965(?) SuperSpeeds) that makes it handle amazingly for me.
