Just saw a razor listed on the 'Bay as a "Gillette Fat Boy Super Adjustable Razor". The first picture you see is of a Flaretip. Down in the body of the listing, in the detailed description, is a picture of a Slim, with this description:

"Here is a very nice Gillette Fat Boy safety razor.

This is a little different as the handle is a slightly smaller diameter than my other Fat Boys. Let me know the details on this razor if there are any to be known."​

Makes you wonder if it's ignorance (not idiocy, I mean ignorance in the sense of genuinely not knowing) or intentional attempts to sucker money out of people who simply can't tell the difference.

My gut feeling is that most just don't know, and just don't care to do the work to ID it properly.
I think there are some that post attractive names just to cull attention to their sale, and then there are a very few who are downright dishonest and try to shill people with mixed cases, paint jobs etc.

I usually email the seller in those cases and just ask what the hell they are selling. A few people had just listed the wrong pictures while others just never answer me back... it makes me wonder.

I believe it runs the full range from uninformed or uncaring all the way to deceitful or dishonest.
