FatBoy clicker

I noticed on my FatBoys, that my two 1958's have a heavy duty spring for the clicker, it protrudes out a little from the razor. The adjuster ring is tighter with no slop or play in it, and the sound of the click is louder. The bottom pic is a 1961 for comparison

That's strange, my 1958 and 1961 Fat Boys look the same (at least in the "clicker" department).

I just looked at 7 different fatboys and here is the break down.

2 D codes- both have it stick out just a little bit. One of these is NOS.

2 E codes- neither have it sticking out. One of these is NOS.

2 F codes- neither have it sticking out.

1 G code- not sticking out.

From the pictures posted, it looks like the little clicker spring was installed upside down when someone took the razor apart. The long end of the clicker spring should point down in the handle towards the opening knob.

I don't think anyone took apart Scotts NOS, it seems the D models have this spring type
