Fashion That You Like

I wear a fedora or similar headwear almost any time I'm out of the house. I had to change spark plugs in my truck this past week & I was wearing a porkpie. Mind you, it has to be a proper fedora with proper dimensions. Not some cheap $20 cloth Target deal.

Pocket squares. I don't always wear a sport coat or suit coat, but when I do, I have a pocket square.

Watches, be it wrist or pocket. I don't like having to pull my phone to look at the time because when I do I have to pull it out a second time because I didn't pay enough attention the first time.

Spectators or Correspondent shoes when the weather is nicer. I'm always looking for a reason to wear my specs.

When ties went "thin" a few years ago, I got some that were 7cm wide, and find that's my favourite width. (That's about 2.75")

Pocket squares for sure.

Fedoras (and I have a Homburg for dressier occasions) braces with suits, pocket squares, cufflinks, and shoes that are polished.

Does fashion mean trends or something else? Definitely pocket squares and thinner ties, not quite as thin as 2.75 inch, perhaps.

Cufflinks all the time for me, too.

Modern trends in fashion that I like include:

1. Slimmer ties (2.5-3"). Traditional ties always looked to bulky to me. Okay if you have a really large frame but too big for the average guy.

2. Slimmer jeans/suits. Again not skinny but more fitted. Looks more appealing, masculine and sharp. Especially suits. Always hated "traditional" trousers which always seems to be the retro equivalent of baggy pants.

3. "Messy Hair." Not clothes but I've grow to like the controlled chaos look somewhat (key is that it is actually groomed). I still like older styles but I always disliked the overly shiny ultra-groomed hairstyles. Feels unnatural and try hard to me. Other cuts like crew cuts are still fantastic though.

4. Brighter/more saturated/stronger colors in moderation. Ties/watches/socks (don't like it myself but same family) etc... Color in mens fashion seems to sway wildly from ultra-conservative ("look how playful my navy tie with WHITE DOTS is!") to overly brash eyesores. While examples of both are still common, its seems the middle ground is finally using brighter color as a contrast against more muted colors and adding some zing to their style.

lets start with this boot and add to it...like a nice wool pant with cuffs...tweed coat and pocket square...button down collared shirt....and fedora...my '63 gold hamilton watch with a brown leather band matching the boots/belt...and i still like my big fat bright yellow rollerball pen i bought from rudy vey....to end it all...and yes my boots would be polished...

I wish you guys would stop posting pics of all those dress boots. You're making me think I need a pair!

I prefer to dress for comfort. Which doesn't mean I sit around in sweats all day. I prefer a looser fitting pair of pants with a sturdy belt so someone can't see my boxers. A good cotton shirt either a worn tee or a nice dress shirt, so long as I can roll up the sleeves and loosen a tie I'm happy. I love to walk around bare foot but with flat feet I like to stick to well built hikers or the few other shoes that I have that actually give amazing arch support. Basically so long as I have full range of movement and can feel confident in my wardrobe I love it!

I like flat caps: They look better with my head than other shapes of hat. Plus, there's just something about them that I can't put my finger on that I like.
Doc Martens shoes: They're durable, comfortable, and I like the look of them.
My Luminox watch: It's a great watch but it's not garish--in fact, it's a solid black face with black numbers and a black band. It doesn't look ostentatious or showy but I love it, plus the tritium illumination never needs charged, unlike glow in the dark paints.
Boot-cut, regular waist jeans: I don't care who makes them, I just hate low-rider jeans. I always feel like I'm about to moon someone. It's not a good feeling, nor is it a good look. Regular waist=no mooning, boot cut is the most comfortable for me.
