What's new

Ever see one of these?

Wondering if anyone has ever seen one of these? I'm guessing it's an old scraper, but interestingly, it looks like a standard DE razor handle and it uses DE blades. Didn't know which forum to post this in since I'm not exactly sure what it is. :tongue_sm

I haven't but that doesn't mean much. Looks like proper blade angle is aboslutely neccesary with this! Give it a whirl, and take some pics of the completed job...

Good Luck to you, and your face.

I can't imaging shaving with something like that. There's one on ebay that looks similar except the handle screws into the side of the blade holder instead of the bottom. So, it's kind of like a shavette with a regular razor handle.

Looks like some kind of scraper to me too. Not a bad idea really. A blade that's lost it's keen edge for shaving should still be sharp enough to use for scraping. What a neat way to re-use old blades.

I don't think that's the original handle for it, but I could be wrong. Most had a longer handle.

Not uncommon to see tools where they used blades that were commercially available, after you were done shaving, you could put your blades in this grass scythe and cut the weeds.

I have something similar for SE razors - same type of idea where you'd put the blade in-between two halves and the whole dealio screws into the handle.

I'd assume too that it is indeed a scraper.

Could it actually be for honing or stropping the blade? I bet it was made to fit into a regular Gillette handle.

That's my first thought also. I looks like it was made to hold the original thick blades instead of the latter thin blades. The thick blades were honed and reused for shaving.
