Escher Stone Q's

I've never used natural stones but have been curious about coti's, I've only used Spyderco's for setting and finishing. I found an Escher stone recently at a gun show that an Army surplus vendor had at a booth.

My question is if the Escher can replace the coti and used the same way?

Any reviews on an escher?

An Escher is finer than a coti. I use my Thuringian (Escher is a brand of Thuringian) as a finisher only, and I have never tried using it with slurry like a coti can be used. I do not think it would work, though, at least not to do as much work as fast as a coti.

They both can be used as finishing hones. They both can be used with water for maintaining a edge. So they can replace one or other for finishing it just depends which one you would prefer. the coti can do a lot more work than escher. when a slurry is created with coticule, the coticule can cut fairly quik and do the work of a 4k. Depending on coticule even 1k. I set bevls with my coticule. I never used a original escher, so i carn't comment on the differance. I can comment on coti as use nothing but. All i can say is you carn't go wrong with coti. eschers are also very highly rated finishers. I would love to try one .

Eschers are generally finer than coticules. You can use both after a 4-6K or use the Escher after the coticule. Try and see what works best for you.
