I've recently discovered that I really like what's often referred to as 2-Band Finest Badger knots. This Envy White knot appears to fit into that loose category. The knot in this EnvyShave Alluminati Classic brush has white tips above a very dark colored band. The dark colored band continues down almost to the top of the handle, but just before it disappears into the handle, it lightens up a bit. This is a fairly dense knot. The knot has a great deal of backbone. The tips remain reasonably soft. I don't detect much, if any scritch, but there is plenty of scrub on the face while face lathering. I can't comment on the bowl lathering ability of this brush, because I pretty much face lather exclusively. Personally, with the loft set at 52mm(as I measured), it suits face lathering very well!

This brush feels substantial in the hand, probably due to the nice anodized aluminum handle. I feel like I have to be a little more careful when loading the brush from a glass soap dish. It can clank pretty hard if I'm careless. Regardless, it feels very comfortable in my hand.

Now, I've only defunkified with shampoo, hand lathered once, and face lathered with this brush twice. I can't detect any smell(Badger Funk) while face lathering. I do expect the EnvyShave Alluminati Classic Envy White to break in and mellow a bit more with use. So, while it is still fairly new to me, I'm very happy I've acquired this shaving brush.

And, a few more picts:

I got moves like Jagger
Wonderful write-up and pics to boot! :thumbup1: But hey, where's the lather shot? Fellow Stew captp, just can't get enough of these kinds of pics.

You mention the handle is "substantial." Do you mean it feels heavy or more along the lines of "you know it's not a plastic handle"?

Nice!

I got the same brush earlier this month. Used it this morning. Mine also needed very little defunking. Today was probably my fourth or fifth shave with it and it was fantastic. Face lather with Yardley lavender and it was a treat all around.

I just looked at it and was surprised how much it was bloomed out. About 14 hours since I shaved and it was almost dry. I hadn't noticed mine open up like that yet. I love these knots and have a couple in other handles. The aluminum one is great I think. Nice weight and balance.

Here's a pic of mine when new.

Great review too!

Great review and good info! I have the same knot in the bulb shape on order to put in a Rudy Vey handle so I'm happy to hear such good reviews. Congrats on the new brush!

Nice review. Thanks for posting.

You are very welcome! And, thank you!

So, especially for @rockviper and for @captp :

I broke out the salsa bowl just for you guys!

This is what the brush looked like after my 3rd pass(face lathering, of course)! Both shots were with Haslinger Marigold shaving soap, but with different lathering techniques.

As far as my comment about the brush feeling substantial in the hand, I would say more like, "you know it's not a plastic handle." The brush weighs in at almost 100g. It is not too heavy in my opinion. It just feels really good and I would say the balance is very nice.

Nice!

I'm not sure what to say about the bloom. The brush did open up some, but I don't think it bloomed as much as some of my other brushes. I assumed that was due to how short the loft is on this brush.

I appreciate the comments!

mr_eleven, thanks for the props! I hope you enjoy your Envy White knot!(I think it's pretty obvious that I've fallen off of the Restraint wagon and right into SBAD!:blushing:)
