eBay Seller Switched Razor?

Gents:

Just had a strange experience with a recent ebay purchase that I'd like some feedback on. I recently won a nice silver Aristocrat with a case and original blades for ~25 bucks on the bay, paid w/ paypal, feeling good. Thought I'd just check it out again under my account and looked ... AND ... there is a shoddy ball end tech there with a crappy box and Port blades!!! ***!??? Is this the razor they're going to ship me?? Aw hell, I feel like such a sucker. What are my options at this point? NOT the razor I purchased but I have no proof and they subbed this pic of the other razor in there now. Crap.

It should have if they changed the picture in the description. You might check if there is a google cache image of the auction.

My thoughts, w/o seeing the auction, is maybe they host their images on a different server and use a template for their auctions. So after your auction was over, they put up another auction and used the same template and re-uploaded new picts with the same file name as the old one. Does the seller currently have an active auction that uses those picts?

I had one poor experience and PayPal helped resolve it. There is a process to follow, but if the item is really different then the description was or a previously posted photo, as a subsidiary of EBay, I think that they can check. Sorry to hear of your trouble.

Check the automated email eBay should have sent you when you placed the bid and won the auction, it should have at least the front page picture attached.

Right you are. Proof! Well, worst case scenario is that I should be able to get my money back, if necessary. I just checked the seller's other items, as per Radar's advice, and the razor pictured in my "won" section is for sale. Maybe for some reason the pic caches got crossed? I don't know.

I am a E-Bay seller myself. You do have recourse through E-Bay and Pay-Pal.
Discuss the issue with the seller, if you do not get aproper answer. Go through E-Bay and Pay-Pal to resolve the issue. You are protected by both. They will deal the seller.
Hope that this helps.

In most cases the seller should be happy to make sure you got what you bid on, or at least give you a refund.

Are you sure you bid on the right auction? :)

The reason I ask is you cannot change a listing after a bid has been placed, it can only be revised with additional information. If there are NO bids, it can be changed up until there are 12 hrs left.

Even if somehow the pictures were switched, they could not change the title/description.

He probably was hosting the image himself and overwrote it with the image of the crappier razor.

You should check his current auctions and see if he has a listing going for the crappy razor now. It may be an innocent mistake and he just names all his files the same and will send you the razor you won. If he doesn't then definitely be ready to initialize a complaint.

Missed this post.

Yes. Contact the seller. I suspect what I suggested above is what happened and you'll be getting the nice razor you bid on.

I'd dispute it with PayPal and eBay. If the seller doesn't give a satisfactory explanation, be sure to leave negative feedback indicating the switcheroo.

Try to contact the seller, if that fails leave negative feedback, and open paypal/eBay dispute. I wouldn't mind if you ousted the sellers name on here just so we don't get screwed. If it makes you feel better i've bought stuff and never rec'd it from fleebay. Even opened disputes with paypal and ebay - Nothing ever came of it cause they honestly don't care... Cause its a binding contract between the seller and buyer. Sucks :thumbdown

calm down people. OP hasn't received the razor yet, he was just checking it in his won page and notice that the hosted images were changed. It happens, and other eBay sellers have already explained why.
Most often what you will see is an image that has been removed. Sellers with limited photo hosting often remove pictures from ended auctions so that they can upload more for current auctions. In this case, the hosted photos have the same name and location as another set of photos for another auction. PITA, yes. Scam, no.
