Drying Soaps ??

Hi guys.

I currently only have 2 soaps I have proraso green & ARKO in a old wilkinson sword tub I don't know if anyone else does this but when I use one afterwards I always rinse the puck under the tap to get rid of any lather and then I leave the lid off and allow to air dry before putting the lid back on ?

Anyone else dry there soaps ?

I don't rinse the lather, there's no need. But I let it dry for 12-24 hours before putting the lid back on

I only have a couple of soaps that have sealing lids.
SIM stick with a cap, and I milled a stick of SIM into an Ikea bowl with a screw-on lid.
I leave the lid on intentionally cross-threaded so it doesn't seal, but keeps the soap clean of dust.

Other than that... Arko stick sits in a plastic cup, MWF with it's ceramic lid, and Tabac with it's plastic lid on a glass bowl.

My soaps just sit out uncovered in their pretty little wal-mart $1.99 glass dishes. I abuse my soaps.

I just leave the dish uncovered while I shave which is around 25 minutes. After that the lid goes back on. I do this to all my soaps, hard and soft. Haven't noticed any issues yet.

I hold the tub upside down under running water to rinse the outside, but I don't bother rinsing the puck itself. I leave it uncovered for an hour or two before putting the top on and putting it back in the drawer.

In fact, I do the opposite. I put a little water on the soap, covered or not, to soften it prior to the next days use.

See the easier to read difference? :001_smile

No I don't dry my soaps, I wipe the bowls off on the outside and put the tops on.

If there's a ton of airy lather I will, but I either way I do give the croaps and soaps some time to dry out, I am afraid of mold. If it's a hard soap I actually prefer for it not to be sealed, there's no need.

I've never had mold appear. I don't think it "likes" what is in most soaps. I've had so little experience with soft European soap, through this point, I have only had Cella for a couple of months now. However, I haven't sought an airtight seal for soaps that have been in use, and will be used again. If they are in a mug, for instance, I don't want the fruit flies checking the sweet smell (if any) and getting stuck, so I put a tissue on top, and something to hold it there until I do put the lid on. I only have one "test" mug for samples, and it's emptied after the current under-test part-puck dries.

I only have three samples, all from Honeybee.

I leave my soap mugs open. Creams are sealed using the factory cap, I don't let a wet brush anywhere near my creams instead dipping out enough for a shave with my finger and using a cheap plastic bowl to lather. As for Proraso/Omega tubs I consider them creams and treat them accordingly.

I have never bothered to rinse my soaps and I'm not about to start now. I don't wait for them to dry either if I have a lid for them.

If a soap is used daily then covering it doesn't make much difference.

I only have one "covered" soap, some Mama Bear's Dragonsblood. I just rinse it off and then I screw the lid back on.

Probably. I don't. I just remove any excess from the edges and outside of the bowl (ignoring anything in the bowl) and cover. The lids on my bowls don't form an airtight seal.

I do. I rinse em then cover them when I get home from work later in the day. Probably over kill but it feels like the right thing to do.
