Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps

I read that these are supposed to be very good for dry skin in the winter. I went to the local store to buy a bar or two, and I could NOT get past the scent. They had the Tea Tree which actually made me gag a little. There was Rose, Lavender, and Almond. I didn't care for the Rose or Lavender. The Almond smelled nice (kind of like Cella), but I feared I would eat the bar!

They didn't have any other scents, and at $3.50 a bar, I'm not going to buy something that I *almost* like. How are the other scents?

I use the almond bar at the moment, smells a bit like marzipan. It's pretty much my favourite easy to get bar soap. I like the mint one for hot summer days as well. Other than that the eucalyptus is quite nice but the other scents don't quite do it for me.

I don't know about the bar form of the soap, but the liquid is very drying, I've purchased it a few times and tried hard to like it, but it has really never worked for me. Tried using it as shampoo a few times, and that's a no-go. Although I did have an interesting (and not altogether unpleasant) experience brushing my teeth with the peppermint soap. Yes, I have a problem.

The bar soap is less drying, I imagine.

Edit: first post. Hello world!

I use the liquid every day as a face washing soap and sometimes use it in the shower. Dr B is very concentrated on both soap and scent so I cut it at least 50/50 with water. I've used the tea tree, citrus, rose, unscented and lavender. Used a few of the bars too and the product isn't drying. I find the scents to be pleasant to use and not strong at all.

I have an ALMOND waiting to be used, it was given to me as a gift for one of our boys....It smells delicious.

I have a few other Dr. Bronner's products, they have all been very good.

I use the citrus liquid or bar as a shampoo and body wash. Great stuff, and I haven't had any issue with drying, but as always YMMV.

SWMBO likes it. She uses the Tea Tree all the time.
I don't particularly care for it.
I tried their "shave soap" and it's horrible.

It's not aethetically pleasing at all... if you just open the tube and squirt it out, it comes out thin with thick, gloppy brown "blobs". Shake the tube and at least it's consistent... consistently brown. It does not smell good. Lemongrass smells like stinky brown with lemongrass masking it. Same for peppermint.

And to top it off, it does not shave well. It does not lather, and does not lubricate.

I do like the lip balm, but prefer Lucky Tiger or Burt's Bees.

My local shave guy in town gave me his Lucky Tiger shave cream. Well, what is left of it. Probably enough for one shave. I can't wait to try it. He let me try the Lucky Tiger aftershave....LOVE IT.

Well, as far as soaps go, I guess I'll still be using Imperial Leather or Dove + Men

I use the almond or mint liquid soaps. all in one body wash/shampoo, washing dishes and clothes when camping. it's what I used to shave with when I was cart shaving, and did it in the shower for years. the bars lather up better.

as stated, it's a concentrate, and is supposed to be diluted.

Agree 100%. I tried the Lemongrass Lime shaving gel and it's horrendous. What's worse is that it has good reviews from clueless people on Amazon.

Somehow, watching the documentary about Dr. Bronner on Netflix made me less likely to buy his company's products. I like eccentrics, but...

I love the tea tree and almond bars. The liquid is good if you dilute it, but if you don't it makes your skin as dry as a bone.

I use the lavender right now, it lathers very well and smells nice. Anxious to try the citrus and eucalyptus.

I have used the liquid in peppermint. I liked it but could not justify the price. I did not find it to be drying, but it is very invigorating and sure wakes you up in the morning! Oh and be careful on the sensitive bits it can burn! I think I tried the lavender bar, but have gone back to Kiss My Face, as it is a local product for me. (even though it is made in Greece)
