Czech & Speake - Oxford & Cambridge -- It sure doesn't last long

I put some on today. I loved the scent... that lasted exactly 7.89 seconds. :thumbdown

Anyone else have the same problem? I'm going to douse myself with the rest of the sample and see if I can get 15 minutes out of it.

But at least it doesn't smell like poop.

No longevity problems for me with Cuba, #88, Citrus Paradisi and Oxford Cambridge. They all lasted a solid strong 2 or 3 hours before starting to weaken. Even then I could still smell all of them for at least another 3 hours.

Wow. That's weird. I don't know while. I used about .33 mL. Maybe I didn't use enough.

It didn't last long for me either. As well, its got peppermint in it, which I didn't much care for. Cuba has the same problem, has peppermint, and I didn't like it. Its not that I don't like mint, the smell I got from it was more like chalk.

Citrus Paradisi lasted several hours on me. I tried Neroli today, its almost gone within 2-3 hrs.

Try the C&S O&C on just a wrist and see if you cannot smell it for quite awhile. I find with O&C that my nose habituates to it very, very quickly if I am wearing it on my neck and chest, but it is actually still present so that others can smell it. If you spray it just on a wrist and keep it from being continually at your nose, you may find that it is much more tenacious than you think.

I am finding that I and I suspect others acclimate to some scents much faster than others, so those scents seem to disappear to me the wearer if I wear them on my neck and chest, but no nearly so much if I just spray part of an arm. Interesting stuff.

Morning 'til night for me. I usually have to rinse it off a bit at the end of the day, and I never use no more than one spritz from the atomizer. The peppermint is what tends to linger for me.

Czech & Speake's offerings are largely colognes, not eau de toilettes. As such, they are only meant to last an hour or two at the very most.

If you want something that takes you through the day, I suggest you look into something other than the "aromatics" of the C&S line.

Give Kouros a try, that'll last ya . ..

I doubt that C&S puts any great significance in calling their frags colognes versus edts--frag houses seem pretty random about how they classify their frags--and I really doubt that C&S intends that they only last an hour given how strong at least some of their frag line is.

Anyone out there having trouble with Citrus Paradisi or 88 fading completely away after an hour?:biggrin1:

And the fact that Kouros is an edt versus a cologne probably does not mean much either. I suspect that Kouros would have "legs" in an edc format as well!

+1. #88 lasts ALL day on me, and into the evening. A little dab'll do ya. Even Neroli, while nowhere near as tenacious, stays with me, which is unusual for a citrus-based frag.

All the C&S are pretty tenacious on me, and that is a rarity. There is nothing better than waking up the next morning and smelling the last of the No. 88 on your crumpled shirt on the floor and knowing you're are just that damn cool.

oooh, disagree entirely. from a business perspective it's a huge factor. most people don't really know the difference between a cologne and an eau de toilette, and having a weaker fragrance concentration benefits the manufacturer twofold - it's cheaper to produce, and people end up using it faster and repurchasing more. you might think that logically, if people don't know the difference between a cologne and an eau de toilette, they wouldn't use more, but it's a subconscious trait that kicks in, universal to all things we want and can't quite seem to get enough of (like with food as well: we all know what it's like to resolve not to eat the whole bag of chips, and before we know it it's 2/3rds gone) - with cologne, that extra two sprays adds up fast.

also companies usually put a lot of stock into how they label their products. as a designer I've dealt with commercial packaging - truth in advertising benefits the manufacturer immensely, mainly because in many cases it's the law, and in even more cases it insulates them from lawsuits, which can be anything as serious as someone having an severe allergic/asthma attack, or as frivolous as a customer suing because, well, he or she was mislead by what it said on the package.

Citrus Paradisi, without exaggeration, was one of the weakest fragrances I've ever tried. Which didn't surprise me . . . it's mostly citrus:wink2:

You are cool! Wish I had said that!

I also find C&S Neroli very tenacious for what is basically a citrus scent.

I am pretty much a fan boy for C&S, though. I admit that.

The first time I tried O&C it faded within a few hours, which was a dissapointment since I absolutely loved the frag. The next time I tried it I applied some to the inside of my elbow and a little on the back of my neck and found that it lasted substantially longer which made me very happy. Give that a try though if those aren't your normal application points and see if it makes a difference.

It lasts a solid strong 2 or 3 hours before starting to weaken. Even then I could still smell all of them for at least another 3 hours.

Two sprays seem to work best. 3 overpowers some, like this one lady co-worker who said "you're wearing some musty stuff that really hits my nose". 1 spray is too faint the same girl barely smelled it. 2 is perfect.

Another lady co-worker after 5 hours said "what shampoo do you use" and I responded "uhm, what is it, Giovanni" nonchalantly, then she said "never heard of it. That's what smells so good I think".

C&S O&C seems to be totally impervious to men's noses and affects about 1/3 of women positivity and the other 2/3 are impervious. I've had 2 or 3 complete stranger ladies say I smell good while wearing O&C.
