Cycling 2018

Half a century. Knew the ENE wind had picked up from the 7 am start, so I made sure to do the last 5 or so miles S then N instead of E. Unfortunately, I hit 50 7.7 miles from the house and out of gas/motivation. It was a long cool down into a 14 mph headwind. 75/94%/ENE8 at the start and up to 85 at the finish. Still improving speeds since starting road riding back in 2015.

63.35 miles today. Was trying to figure out what route I wanted to bike last night and decided today was the perfect day for my first metric century. Beautiful trail (once I got more than 10 miles from my house) and fairly flat so it was a great way to hit the planned mark. The last 5+ miles were primarily finished only because I wanted to get home.

Solid ride there ^^^ !

Went out for a short fast one after a half mile swim. 16 miles. First 10 miles @ 20.2 mph despite some stop and go. 91/56%/ENE8 and got caught by light rain the last 2.5 or so. Tri is eleven days away and I’m hoping for a 29 min bike (10 miles).

Been away from the forum several months ... nice to see this thread still popping along.

Just crossed 2,000 miles for the year this morning ... pretty proud of that.

40mi this week total. I got injured playing soccer on Monday and I had to take it easy this week to not overdo it. But at this point I am much better.

Glad to hear it! 16 miles today. Hot and humid. 80-83/91-75%/E4. The tri swim has been cancelled and replaced with a quarter mile sprint to the bikes due to red tide.

Oh man that red tide thing is so sad and catastrophic, especially on the coast. I hope the natural environment recovers soon from it.

Me, too. Disappointed that so many events on the Gulf Coast have been canceled, but that is small beans compared to what is happening to the sealife and environment.

Late entry. Sat around the house doing paperwork on Sunday while my sister and her husband logged 104 miles in the COVAC Ride. Finally got the gumption to ride 31 miles to Punta Gorda for a couple cold ones and dinner. 88/61%/SW11. Little tail/crosswind helped me to nearly 20 mph avg.

Quick 17.4. Don’t expect people backing out of driveways to see you! Felt strong after two days away. More rest as the duathlon approaches!

14.5mi today, too hot. Total 69.9mi this week, like a price tag :D.
I almost shaved my ear this morning with my straight razor, :O. Thankfully they are very forgiven, so it was only a little cut in my ear lobes.
I have tried straight razors for a while and I still find it too much hassle. DE just gives me such as smooth effortless shave and the blade is always ready.
I put my two straight razors and strop for sale today in OfferUp. I think I’m done with the adventure.

17.9 road bike miles Friday evening and a couple quick 4.5 mile rides on the MTB on the road today to get the blood flowing the day before the duathlon. 88/65%/SW4

Thanks! Just seeing it after the race, but thanks! Things went well, especially the bike! There were 334 participants and I was 23rd in the bike overall and 2nd in my age group (25 50-54 year olds). 21 mph avg, which beats any of my training rides. The run was brutal in the sun, but I was ninth in the group (not going to mention time!). Finished 65th overall and 7/25 in my group. Next events: A turkey trot followed by a December sprint tri in Naples.

I'm glad the swim portion of the tri was canceled. The water is still pretty nasty. The pictures I am seeing from the Tampa Bay area now look awful.

Congratulations!! Those are excellent results! Are there pics of the race?

New to biking this summer. I have a hybrid bike so I'm not breaking any speed records. Trying to get 14ish miles 5 days a week.
I do think I need to move to a flatter terrain!

Couple of blurry frame grabs:
First is the bike finish. My right cleat is unclipped. I don’t remove my foot from the shoe, and I don’t think it costs me much time. Second is the run finish, and I am done! Must have been 84 degrees and 80% humidity in direct sun the entire run. Captiva is a beautiful place for an event, and I’m sad that the triathlon won’t be held here any longer.

Back at it today. Early evening ride. 90/59%/WNW7. 19.5 road bike miles. Pouring out now. Legs feel pretty good after Sunday's effort.
